Traveling

Today I’m traveling to Kingsport, Tn (NE Tennessee) for the weekend. We’re going to the Tn Federation of Republican Women (TFRW) Convention, it’s a biennial event. The delegates for the convention elect the TFRW President for the next 2 years. Should be a good time especially with the group of women I’m going with and then there’s all the machinations and drama surrounding the election. Lordy but you’d think we were voting for the Republican Presidential candidate. It really does amaze me and is one of the reasons that holding an elective office in “the party” holds no interest for me whatsoever.

Although I enjoy the women I hang with in RWWC (Republican Women of Williamson County) the party politics leave something to be desired. I find most of the people are more about being known and seen than knowing what’s going on with our elected officials and how they are voting. It’s also not politic to question or not show the proper amount of reverence for the Tn slate of elected officials. My vision is these officials are here to serve the unknown masses like myself but hey what do I know, I’m just a lowly blogger.

For this convention, I figured I hadn’t been to Kingsport yet so it would be fun to go. I’m kind of irritated though, the convention center (Meadow View Conference Resort & Convention Center) which is owned by Marriott nickel and dimes you with wifi. I stayed at a Microtel last weekend and had wifi included with the room but not with Marriott! Nope, they charge $10 a day for that luxury. This happened at the Marriott where we stayed for Milbloggers Conference. Anyway, it may be Sunday before I post again unless one of the conference rooms has wifi which is possible.

You were there??? I wish I had known! My granddaughter and I were there as well. Had a great time, met some great people!

Ya should have stayed at Hampton Inn. I’ve got free Wi Fi and it’s only a few minutes drive. :)
