Democrats think the Constitution is just something to maneuver around-especially TN Rep Steve Cohen

From a hearing today on restoring felon voting rights where Hans A. von Spakovsky testified before the House Judiciary Committee.

From The Corner – The Right of Felons to Vote: The House Takes On the Constitution [Hans A. von Spakovsky]

But the most revealing admission during the entire hearing was made by Representative Cohen. When confronted with our constitutional arguments, he said that if there is a constitutional problem, we just have to find a way to get around it. There seems to be a lot of that going on in the House of Representatives these days.

This is what you get when you vote for a Democrat. After all, they believe the Constitution is nothing more than bill of negative rights.

Military Voting Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 2393/S. 1026)

There is a huge concern that all votes are counted EXCEPT for the military vote! Especially when that vote relates to our deployed troops.

From Brian Faughnan at American Issues Project

Among those who have studied the issue of military voting, there seems to be little disagreement that there is a problem. While there’s no agreement as to precisely many how many members of the military are denied the right to vote, the number is significant. One recent estimate by the Congressional Research Service says that at least one-quarter of the absentee ballots requested by members of the Armed Services are not ultimately counted. And note that this figure does not consider the problem of servicemen and -women who are unable to file an official request for a ballot. Military retirees say that many are unaware that they have a right to request an absentee ballot, or are unable to gain access to a computer or telephone to do so.

The House Committee on Administration recently heard testimony from on the problems faces by our men and women in the military. Retired Gunnery Sergeant Jessie Jane Duff described the problem this way:

Due to language barriers and different technology services available, there isn’t a flow of information from newspapers and television stations like most experience here in the states. The information is limited based upon various armed forces radio, television, and military newspapers. The reality is, information flows slowly to the majority of personnel. Many locations throughout the world don’t have the technology that Americans take for granted in their Blackberry or iPhone.

The Marine Corps is an expeditionary force. Mail to overseas locations must go through a central Fleet Post Office address in San Francisco or New York before it is forwarded through the Military Postal System to the overseas location. When Marine Corps personnel are training, they are usually in austere conditions and train to reflect combat conditions. Everything is geared towards combat readiness and the Marines, along with other military personnel, focus strictly on that purpose. Field operations have limited services and mail is delayed even in non- combat environments.

Our access to voting information was minimal and due to the nature of our work, Internet and computer access was limited. We spent hours, weeks, and even months in field operations to support training. During training cycles, there wasn’t a 9 to 5 day or a 40 hour work week. Deadlines often pass before personnel realize an election is right around the corner. Delays with overseas mail often prevent absentee ballots being received and returned to the states in time to meet the deadlines.

This is so wrong. We always hear from both Democrat and Republican legislators how we HAVE to support the troops yet the number of legislators sponsoring this bill is pitiful!

H.R. 2393:Military Voting Protection Act of 2009

To amend the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act to improve procedures for the collection and delivery of marked absentee ballots of absent overseas uniformed services voters, and for other purposes.

Everyone needs to call their Representative and Senators to ask them why they AREN’T co-sponsoring this bill! I see that neither of my Tennessee Republican Senators are co-sponsors nor is my Democrat Representative Lincoln Davis a co-sponsor. There is no excuse for any legislator not jumping on board for this bill. None! Nada! Zilch! Zero!

Put their feet to the fire, every single one of them to co-sponsor this bill. NOW.

A Message to Lt Governor Ramsey

Lt Governor, Terry Frank has a message for you and I think you should read and take heed. I heard you earlier in the year at the Williamson County Republican Headquarters say that Judicial Selection needs to go. That Tennessee voters should be selecting these judges. Were you just talking or playing to the crowd?

From Terry Frank

I see no evidence at all that Lt. Governor Ramsey has expended any of his political capital in seeing that we the people get our Constitutional right to vote for our judges. Instead, being the avid reader that I am, I read various statements—no, not various, CONFLICTING statements. It appears that these statements depend on the audience, the venue, the paper.

What’s it gonna be Lt. Governor?

Is this how legislative voting works in your state?

I know this happens in Tennessee, I’m not sure if it is as pervasive as you will see in the video, nor do I know if the rules allow or disallow voting for another legislator. On what ever scale it just seems wrong. If there’s too much going on then leadership is failing in their job. Considering that the Democrats have run the Tennessee legislature for 140 years it wouldn’t surprise me to know it’s written into the rules to allow this. In fact, I think it is allowed as long as the legislator is in the building. How often do you think it happens that a legislator who isn’t in the building still casts a vote? On controversial bills, I’d bet it happens.

How about your state? Ever thought about this?

TN Democrats Vote against streamlining Voting for Deployed Soldiers

Here’s another example of Democrats who profess to support the troops, actions not words reveal their true colors once again.

Democrats block effort to make it easier for deployed soldiers to vote

NASHVILLE – Today at the state capital Democrats voted against legislation that would have made it easier for Tennesseans serving in the military to participate in elections even if they are deployed outside of the state or the country.

All three Democrats on the House Elections Subcommittee – Rep. Gary Moore of Joelton, Rep. Harry Tindell of Knoxville and Rep. Eddie Yokley of Greeneville, voted against a straightforward bill today that would have allowed military personnel serving overseas to send in their absentee ballots electronically (by fax), to make it easier for them to vote.

All Republican members of the committee voted for the legislation.

An Election Prediction for McCain/Palin

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air predicts a squeaker for McCain/Palin. It will be interesting to see how close he is, I think this will be a squeaker and all the declarations of an Obama landslide are wildly overstated.

You’ll notice that Ed has MN staying a Blue State and I agree with that one. The last 2 presidential elections it looked like MN had a chance of going Red but it was always 3 to 5 points to the Dhimmicrats. I figure it will happen that way again.

If you haven’t voted, GET OUT AND VOTE FOR MCCAIN/PALIN!

Illegal Voting by Illegal Aliens and Legal Immigrants

This point has been made a number of times over the last 10 years (at least), the Democrats consistently across states and federally reject any kind of voter ID requirement. It’s pretty obvious why, they need and want the votes whether they are legal or not. It’s called subverting the system through illegal means. Barney Frank’s continuous funding for ACORN (they’ve been found guilty of voter fraud in a number of states) and ACORN’s voter registration shenanigans demonstrates the Democrat support for these illegal votes.

From National Review by Hans A. von Spackovsky – Illegal Voting (The non-citizen electorate)

The Government Accountability Office estimated that up to 3 percent of individuals called for jury duty from voter registration rolls in just one U.S. district court were not U.S. citizens. While that may not seem like a large number, it’s more than enough to tip close elections — say, Florida in 2000.. Florida has over a million illegal aliens, and the Justice Department has prosecuted non-citizens, including a state-legislature candidate, for voting there. In California, a congressional seat came within 200 votes of being stolen in 1996 by non-citizens’ voting; a city councilmember was permanently disqualified from public office for soliciting non-citizens to vote in Compton in 2001.

After a grand-jury investigation of the 1982 Illinois governor’s race resulted in the conviction of aliens for illegally registering and voting, the U.S. Attorney estimated that there were 80,000 non-citizens registered to vote in Chicago. In 1985, the district director of the Immigration and Naturalization Services testified in the Illinois legislature that 25,000 illegal and 40,000 legal aliens remained registered in Chicago. The grand jury found that aliens registered so they could “obtain documents identifying them as U.S. citizens and had used their voter registration cards “to obtain a myriad of benefits, from social security to jobs with the Defense Department. More recently, Bexar County, Texas, found hundreds of aliens registered to vote, some of whom had voted in a dozen local, state, and federal elections, and Harris County found a Norwegian citizen who had voted in a state legislative race decided by only 33 votes. Similar accounts from other states such as Utah and Arizona demonstrate that this is a widespread phenomena.

That honor system of registering to vote works so well with the Democrats doesn’t it? But then, when you have Ophelia Ford of Memphis elected to the TN State Senate by votes from dead people who needs voter ID?
