It’s now against the law to be annoying in Brighton,Michigan
When I first started to read this story I thought it was talking about Brighton in Britain. Something like this wouldn’t surprise me considering what is going on in Londonstan. Brighton is 40 miles west of Detroit and 20 miles north of Ann Arbor, Michigan. So we’ve still got that whole Muslim/Islam thing going on.
From the Livingston Daily.com
The Brighton City Council approved a more stringent code for public conduct, and those who violate the rules – including annoying someone else – could be ticketed and fined. The ordinance was modeled after one in Royal Oak, where Brighton Police Chief Tom Wightman previously was employed.
One of the sections reads, “It shall be unlawful for a person to engage in a course of conduct or repeatedly commit acts that alarm or seriously annoy another person and that serve no legitimate purpose.
Another section states, “It shall be unlawful for any person in the city to insult, accost, molest or otherwise annoy, either by word of mouth, sign or motions any person in any public place.
That’s what happens when you become a mini Middle Eastern state. I bet the Obami was thinking this state was one of those 57 states he’d been to.

Boot PA Rep John Murtha from office
Bill Russell who is running in Pennsylvania to boot John Murtha from office has a great ad.
We now know that Congressman Jack Murtha’s long public indictment of American Marines was factually wrong. Instead of “cold blooded killers,” court rulings reveal a dramatically different story of personal courage under fire. True heroism.
Lt. Col. Bill Russell’s grassroots campaign is setting the record straight. By standing up for fellow veterans, military personnel and average taxpayers, he’s taking on one of Washington’s most entrenched powerbrokers in what columnist Michelle Malkin calls a “David versus Goliath” contest.
A survivor of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the Pentagon, Bill’s campaign is a call to conservative reform and patriotic action. Won’t you join us?
Please consider an immediate donation of $100, $50 or $25 to help tell the whole truth to Pennsylvania voters.
Help Bill raise $200,000 by 9.11.08.

Interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Sentinels of the Third United States Infantry Regiment “Old Guard”
Q: How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the tomb of the Unknowns and why?
A: 21 steps. It alludes to the twenty-one gun salute, which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.
Q: How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why?
A: 21 seconds, for the same reason as answer number 1.
Q: Why are his gloves wet?
A: His gloves are moistened to prevent his losing his grip on the rifle.
Q: Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time, and if not, why not?
A: No, he carries the rifle on the shoulder away from the tomb. After his march across the path, he executes an about face and moves the rifle to the outside shoulder.
Q: How often are the guards changed?
A: Guards are changed every thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.
Q: What are the physical traits of the guard limited to?
A: For a person to apply for guard duty at the tomb, he must be between 5′ 10″ and 6′ 2″ tall and his waist size cannot exceed 30″.
Other requirements of the Guard:
They must commit 2 years of life to guard the tomb, live in a barracks under the tomb, and cannot drink any alcohol on or off duty FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. They cannot swear in public FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES and cannot disgrace the uniform {fighting} or the tomb in any way.
After TWO YEARS, the guard is given a wreath pin that is worn on their lapel signifying they served as guard of the tomb. There are only 400 presently worn. The guard must obey these rules for the rest of their lives or give up the wreath pin.
The shoes are specially made with very thick soles to keep the heat and cold from their feet. There are metal heel plates that extend to the top of the shoe in order to make the loud click as they come to a halt. There are no wrinkles, folds or lint on the uniform. Guards dress for duty in front of a full-length mirror.
The first SIX MONTHS of duty a guard cannot talk to anyone, nor watch TV. All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. A guard must memorize who they are and where they are interred. Among the notables are: President Taft, Joe E. Lewis {the boxer} and Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, {the most decorated soldier of WWII} of Hollywood fame. Every guard spends FIVE HOURS A DAY getting his uniforms ready for guard duty.
The Sentinels Creed:
My dedication to this sacred duty is total and wholehearted. In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter. And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection. Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements, I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability. It is he who commands the respect I protect. His bravery that made us so proud. Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day alone in the thoughtful peace of night, this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance.
More Interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknowns itself:
The marble for the Tomb of the Unknowns was furnished by the Vermont Marble Company of Danby, Vt. The marble is the finest and whitest of American marble, quarried from the Yule Marble Quarry located near Marble, Colorado and is called Yule Marble. The Marble for the Lincoln memorial and other famous buildings was also quarried there.
The Tomb consists of seven pieces of rectangular marble: Four pieces in sub base; weight Â- 15 tons;
One piece in base or plinth; weight Â- 16 tons;
One piece in die; weight Â- 36 tons;
One piece in cap; weight Â- 12 tons;
Carved on the East side (the front of the Tomb, which faces Washington, D.C.) is a composite of three figures, commemorative of the spirit of the Allies of World War I.
In the center of the panel stands Victory (female).
On the right side, a male figure symbolizes Valor.
On the left side stands Peace, with her palm branch to reward the devotion and sacrifice that went with courage to make the cause of righteousness triumphant.
The north and south sides are divided into three panels by Doric pilasters. In each panel is an inverted wreath.
On the west, or rear, panel (facing the Amphitheater) is inscribed:
HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN BUT TO GOD
Never Forget the sacrifices made for our freedoms we enjoy today!

Anarchists at War
The anarchists have been busy this week between ELF burning homes and the anti-war anarchists attacking military recruiting offices. Looks like the anti-war anarchists are trying to replay the 1960’s. Course, it helps that the anarchists from the ’60’s are college professors today teaching Anarchy 101 and are given a pass for their violent past, in fact they haven’t just been given a pass they are considered heroes by the Dhimmicrats of today.
Today’s explosion of a military recruiting office at Times Square is only a taste of what is to come at the end of this summer with the national conventions in St. Paul and Denver. I know that a local private college in St. Paul is giving aid and comfort to the anarchy groups preparing to attack the Republican Convention.

The FDNY confirms the explosion happened at the Armed Forces recruiting center at about 3:50 AM. It is located at West 43rd and Broadway. There was a large hole in the front window of the building.
There were no reported injuries.
Fox to air “Inside Islam: Faith vs. Fanatics”
This was a documentary produced for PBS’ “America at a Crossroads” series. But then PBS didn’t like the conservative partners nor the substance of the documentary so they refused to air it.
“Inside Islam: Faith vs. Fanatics,” hosted by E.D. Hill, airs at 9 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 20, on the FOX News Channel.
FOX To Air Controversial Documentary on Islam
The film, also produced by Islamism expert Alex Alexiev, follows the stories of moderates at the flashpoints of jihadism: politician Naser Khader in Denmark, filmmaker Mohammed Sifaoui in France, talk-show host Tarek Fatah in Canada, former Nation of Islam member Edmond Abdul Hafeez in Chicago and Sheikh Kabbani, a Flint, Mich., imam who warned State Department officials of Usama bin Laden’s terrorism influence three years before the Sept. 11 attacks.“The cancer that is within our community is I don’t believe the majority,” said Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, a Wisconsin-born Muslim who lives in Arizona, in the film. “I think it’s a minority, it’s a minor, minor, minor, minority that are radicalized or violent but the majority I believe look at the lens of politics through an Islamist lens.
“If we give them and let them handle the mantle of religion that they seek to exploit for their own geo-political issues all over the globe, then we are really going to lose this war.”
After viewing the film PBS executives in charge of the “America at a Crossroads” series told the filmmakers that it was “alarmist” and “overreaching” and that PBS would not run it.
Burke and Gaffney, a former Reagan administration official, said that they made a series of changes to accommodate PBS. Ultimately, however, they concluded the problem wasn’t their film, but liberal bias at PBS.
In an interview with FOX News, Burke makes explosives charges about the PBS executives he dealt with, Jeff Bieber and Leo Eaton.
“In the first meeting, they said to me, ‘Fire your partners.’” Burke said. “And I said ‘Why?’ They said, ‘Because they are conservatives.’”Burke said the PBS executives most forcefully objected to Gaffney’s involvement, asking, “‘Don’t you check into the politics of the people you work with?’ I said ‘No. I never have and I never will.’
“I had done a film on the Hollywood 10 on blacklisting in Hollywood where the leftwing was blacklisted and now it was the left trying to blacklist the right,” he added. “I thought I was living in an Alice in Wonderland mirror image.”
Way to go Fox. Isn’t it wonderful that taxpayer dollars go to the censorship channel – PBS!
The Hunt is on
Here’s a video biography of Fred D. Thompson, it gives a sketch of the evolution of FDT’s career.
I’m even going to shill for Steve Gill here. That alone worries me about myself. Gill’s book – The Fred Factor (no, I haven’t read it…..yet) – gives some context to Fred’s vote for the McCain/Feingold Campaign Finance bill. Although I have seen video where Fred has admitted that this law has not turned out as expected and he questions it’s legitimacy today.
Have a great weekend all. I’ve got family from MN visiting this weekend so I’ll be playing tourist. I’ve been in Tn 21 months now and have not been to the Grand Ole Opry! In fact, I haven’t really done much in terms of checking things out in Nashville. I’ve spent more time in outstate Tn mostly due to Patriot Guard. Mostly though, I can’t wait to spend time with my family.

Thinking Blogger Award

The Thinking Blogger Award came to me from Flag Gazer – thanks for the complement. The thought behind the award is for a blogger to pass on the award to 5 bloggers who make you think.
I’m not sure if these bloggers will participate but here’s my choices (I’ve tried not to include those listed by Flag Gazer or Yankee Mom)
My Thinking Blogger Awards go to

Chuck at From My Position – originally Chuck was a deployed milblogger in Iraq. I had been reading Chuck for awhile and then Chuck become a Wounded Warrior who was the impetus behind the Valour IT program. His writing is in your face but has been moderated of late especially in the 4 letter word category. He’s still in your face. Those readers of Chuck and Carren lived through his stay at Walter Reed on his way to recovery although that recovery is a long process.
Blue Star Chronicles - Beth has a wide array of issues covered but is definitely a milblogger and troop supporter. She’s also a bit touched since just recently Beth realized she had to go to the E.R. but FIRST……Beth had to take a shower and shave her legs. Yep, I kid you not. With great difficulty Beth endured a shower just so she wouldn’t go to the E.R. with hairy legs.
NOTR at Rofasix has to be one of the more curmudgeonly bloggers out there. He’s also got a killer wit and loves his Bernese Mountain Dogs. NOTR is a former Helo pilot and has quite a bit to say about Defense spending and helipcopter programs.
Chuck Grist at American Ranger is a rather new read for me. SFC Grist is a veteran of Vietnam and Operation Iraqi Freedom (2004). He’s currently at Ft. Bragg but will soon be once again deployed.
Blue Collar Republican is a Memphis, Tn group blog. John Farmer is the blog owner and I would call him an activist working for change in the Memphis corruption machine known as politics. He has a great blogburst almost everyday. John is also a big troop supporter and anti-illegal alien proponent.
Rules of participation:
Congratulations, you won a
Should you choose to participate, please make sure you pass this list of rules to the blogs you are tagging. I thought it would be appropriate to include them with the meme. The participation rules are simple:
1. If, and only if, you get tagged, write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think,
2. Link to this post so that people can easily find the exact origin of the meme,
3. Optional: Proudly display the ‘Thinking Blogger Award’ with a link to the post that you wrote.

Wednesday Hero – 1/17/07
This Weeks Heroes Were Suggested By CavMom
This week I have three people to talk about. Roy Velez and his two sons, Jose and Andrew. One who was lost in Iraq and another who lost his life in Afghanistan.

It happens almost daily. A stranger reaches out to comfort Roy Velez, unintended symbol of unspeakable loss and grief.
Today it’s a woman who approaches as he’s halfway through breakfast at Montelongo’s Mexican restaurant.
“My brother told me about you and your sons,” she says, extending her hand.
He takes her small hand between his – this sturdy man who has buried two boys who went off to war – and listens gently as her own story of sorrow spills forth. Her 8-year-old daughter, a traffic accident, her son at the wheel.
As waiters bustle about with trays of huevos rancheros and barbacoa plates, Mr. Velez does what he does best: offers up a soft prayer to help this mother endure her emptiness.
Strangers learn about Mr. Velez from newspapers and TV. They come to him to share their gratitude or their grief. They come to thank him and console him, tearfully, for his family’s sacrifice.
This is how Mr. Velez chooses to live after losing two sons in two years, not riven with anger or paralyzed with sadness. But as someone ready for those who might slip into the darkness of despair.
For his strength for others, compassion and grace – and for serving as inspiration for anyone who knows his story – Mr. Velez is the 2006 Dallas Morning News Texan of the Year.
Because this story is so long, I’ve linked to the article which you can read in it’s entirety.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Have Every Right To Dream Heroic Dreams.
Those Who Say That We’re In A Time When There Are No Heroes, They Just Don’t Know Where To Look
This post is part of the Wednesday Hero Blogroll. If you would like to participate in honoring the brave men and women who serve this great country, you can find out how by clicking here.
President’s Press Conference
I just listened to President Bush’s press conference where he announced the resignation of Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. First, I like Donald Rumsfeld. I liked watching his press conferences with the media. I have been unhappy with how we have dealt with Al Sadr and his militias but I don’t know if that is Rumsfeld, Bush, the Iraqi’s or a combination of all.Â
But in listening to the press conference I think I just heard President Bush hand over the keys for the car to the Democrats. He talked about entitlements which to me means he’ll be willing to sign onto new entitlements along with the myriad of other left wing desires. Hell, maybe they’ll finally get their socialized medicine and price fixing for drugs. You can definitely look to cuts with the military. I don’t know this Robert Gates except what I read in Wikipedia and there was nothing there that impressed me terribly.Â
Looks like we’ll be having an open borders policy along with all those illegal aliens getting Social Security, tax breaks, amnesty and probably whatever little perks they want. Oh and that Super Highway? Yeah, look for that too. It was scheduled to start in 2007 so it’s right on target. We can kiss any border security goodbye.
I”m wondering right now who else President Bush will be willing to throw over the fence to appease the Democrats because there will be no end to the demands. One thing is for sure (as we’ve all known), President Bush is no President Reagan. He sure didn’t come out fighting, he came out whimpering. Good grief to reference “No Child Left Behind” as an example of his working with the Democrats? That’s exactly what angered most of us Conservatives right out of the gate with his presidency. That’s like a slap in the face to us.Â
This does not bode well for the next two years. This does not bode well for the security of our country with the terror threats we face from many factions. I’m still cringing and probably will continue to cringe for quite awhile.
Bleepin’ Satellite Connection
My satellite internet connection has been extremely unreliable lately. Just spent an 1 1/2 hours trying to get connected. Yesterday mornings post was a fluke, got that post published about 2 seconds before I lost connectivity. Tried in the early afternoon to no avail. Then I was off to Fort Campbell for the July Eagle Remembrance Ceremony. I’ll try to get a post up on it later if Wild Blue will cooperate. The UG’s (Westboro) were in attendence outside gate 4 and PGR was lined up and ready. Later.
