Al Gore Smoking Ice Sculpture
These people in Alaska have a great sense of humor.

Frozen Gore
Fairbanks, AK- In an ongoing effort to attract Former Vice President Al Gore to come to Fairbanks and debate his man-made global warming theories, a unique interactive ice sculpture will be unveiled Tuesday, January 5th in downtown Fairbanks. The new sculpture, a 6′ tall, 4,000 lb, likeness of Mr. Gore will be uncovered at the corner of Airport Road and Cushman Street next to Thrifty Liquor. This year the carving features an audio dub of Mr. Gore’s Dec. 2009 Copenhagen speech suggesting the entire Polar Ice cap will likely disappear in the next 5 to 7 years, and urging us to upgrade our light bulbs.
As the audio is played, hot air will be emitted from the mouth of the statue, signifying the dangers to the environment of all types of man-made emissions. The source of the hot air will be the Ford F-350 flatbed truck on which the sculpture sits, with a 2” hose from the tailpipe of the vehicle, through a hole bored in the back of the head of the carving, and pumped out through the mouth of the statue. Local businessmen Craig Compeau and Rudy Gavora commissioned the frozen artwork, by world class sculptor Steve Dean.
“We’re not giving up easy”, Compeau told onlookers as the statue was receiving its final touches Sunday evening. “We invited Mr. Gore to Fairbanks last January (one of the coldest in decades) to debate his planet-melting theories. His people responded via email, that although Mr. Gore would love to attend, there was a scheduling conflict.” Compeau was confused by the response since he had not suggested any specific date or time.Locals are welcome to stop by and get their photos taken with the artwork at any time of day, although the frigid temperature may keep them away, or cause cameras to freeze up. Temperatures in Interior Alaska have recently fallen to the -30 to -40F range.
In conjunction with the release of the new statue, Compeau has incorporated a “Local Warming” contest that will raise money to provide warm winter clothing for homeless Fairbanks residents. The contest asks participants to estimate how many hours the Ford F-350 would have to run (at idle) to equal the carbon output of a round-trip visit from Tennessee to Copenhagen aboard a Lear jet. The winner will receive a warm Ski-doo winter jacket, long underwear, thermal socks, and an Al Gore Bobblehead doll.
Here’s last years Frozen Gore with former Governor Sarah Palin, daughter Piper and husband Todd.

John ‘Effing’ Kerry – Still Stuck on Stupid
Is there anything more ludicrous than John ‘Effing’ Kerry trying to be snarky and humorous?
From IDB Editorials – Palin Vs. Kerry (And MoveOn.org)
John Kerry, replying to an op-ed Sarah Palin wrote on cap-and-trade, suggests the Alaska governor “check the view from her front porch.” What she sees from there, senator, is energy wealth going to waste.
snip….Kerry, who opposed the Cape Wind project off breezy Cape Cod because a wind farm capturing energy from ocean breezes might spoil his view, went ballistic. In a thinly veiled reference to Tina Fey’s “Saturday Night Live” skit, he repeated the warm-monger mantra that the “global climate change crisis threatens our economy and national security in profound ways” and that “Gov. Palin need look no further than the view from her front porch in Alaska to see how destructive this crisis can be.”
What Palin sees is a cap-and-tax plan that will result in a “dried-up energy sector” that even the sponsors of the Waxman-Markey bill anticipate, or they wouldn’t have included a provision providing $4.2 billion over eight years for newly unemployed energy workers.
Stupid and hypocritical is a difficult afflication to overcome. I doubt that Kerry will ever recover.
2008 Election and the demise of the Media
Carl M. Cannon at Inside Politics Daily has written an extensive article on media malfeasance during the 2008 election. Included in this article is a bit of the history of ‘journalism’ in the U.S. in relation to politics. Get past the first couple paragraphs and the story of the disservice the media played to Americans is exhibited time after time.
The continual attacks on Sarah Palin with lies and distortions by the networks, cable and print was a coordinated assault orchestrated by the Democrats which showed the media to be in the pocket of the Democrat machine.
This assertion by Cannon was interesting:
That this might pose a problem never dawned on the men and women who controlled the media – even as it drove their right-of-center readers and viewers away in droves. When I tell my friends working in places like The New York Times that they created Rush Limbaugh, they respond with shock and disbelief. But it’s obvious to me that it’s true, even as the anointed sages of the Old Media solemnly denied that an animal such as “liberal bias” existed at all. It’s like that scene in the fire swamp in “The Princess Bride” when Buttercup expresses fear of “R.O.U.Ses.” Replies our hero Wesley: “Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don’t think they exist” – just as one is about to chomp his arm off.
One particular assault I had not known about:
The most egregious example was posted on Daily Kos on Sept. 12, 2008 by Paul Lewis Hackett III, a trial lawyer and U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Iraq, who ran in 2005 for a vacant seat in the House from Ohio’s second congressional district, losing narrowly in a district President Bush had carried easily just a year earlier.
Fretting that the Obama campaign was going to lose Ohio to McCain, Hackett proposed his own solution: A series of savage attacks on the GOP ticket focusing on Sarah Palin and her family. Here is what he wrote:
The message (would be) simple and the professionals can refine it but essentially it should contain these elements: Sarah Palin? Can’t keep her solemn oath of devotion to her husband and had sex with his employee. Sarah Palin? Accidentally got pregnant at age 43 and the tax payers of Alaska have to pay for the care of her disabled child. Sarah Palin? Unable to teach her 16 year old daughter right from wrong and now another teenager is pregnant. Sarah Palin? Can you trust Sarah Palin and her values with America’s future?
Apparently, Hackett took the rumors of an affair from the National Enquirer, which offered no proof, or even evidence. He then segued into an even uglier line of attack, arguing that it’s irresponsible to bring a handicapped baby into the world. This is not “pro-choice,” it’s pro-eugenics. It’s also creepy and illiberal, and reinforces conservatives’ worst fears about Democrats and the issue of abortion. And, oh yes, Bristol Palin’s age was wrong. She was nearly 18 when Hackett wrote this screed, not 16. This proved a harbinger, too, as misinformation slipped easily from the left blogosphere into mainstream coverage.
Cannon goes on to list many of the lies and distortions promoted by the media throughout the campaign and after. The fear and loathing of Sarah Palin by these so called ‘journalists’ and professional media types is alive and well today.
Sarah ‘Barracuda’ Palin and the Piranhas of the Press
The only conclusion one can reach is that the Democrats and Media are very afraid of Sarah Palin’s appeal to those who live in ‘flyover’ country. Thus their psychotic need to destroy the woman and her family at their own peril and demise.
The Pathological Hatred of Sarah Palin
David Kahane has written the ultimate essay on the sick and twisted hatred of Sarah Palin by the Left and it’s minions.
And so the word went out, from that time and place: Eviscerate Sarah Palin like one of her field-dressed moose. Turn her life upside down. Attack her politics, her background, her educational history. Attack her family. Make fun of her husband, her children. Unleash the noted gynecologist Andrew Sullivan to prove that Palin’s fifth child was really her grandchild. Hit her with everything we have: Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, taking a beer-run break from her quixotic search for Mr. Right to drip venom on Sister Sarah; post-funny comic David Letterman, to joke about her and her daughters on national television; Katie Couric, the anchor nobody watches, to give this Alaskan interloper a taste of life in the big leagues; former New York Times hack Todd “Mr. Dee Dee Myers Purdum, to act as an instrument of Graydon Carter’s wrath at Vanity Fair. Heck, we even burned her church down. Even after the teleological triumph of The One, the assault had to continue, each blow delivered with our Lefty SneerTM (viz.: Donny Deutsch yesterday on Morning Joe), until Sarah was finished.
He leaves no sleazy leftard stone unturned, go read the rest.
