Blockbuster sponsors Mexican Gringo Voodoo Soccer doll promotion

Yeah, isn’t that nice and racist! The US and Mexico are playing each other in the World Cup qualifying games this past week. We all know how the US Soccer team was treated the last time they played in Mexico City. Very badly.

From the Star-Telegram/AP:

After RadioShack dropped out, a new U.S. corporate sponsor has stepped up to put a voodoo hex on the U.S. national soccer team and end Mexico’s decade-long losing streak.

Blockbuster stores in Mexico City began trading Record newspaper coupons for voodoo-doll likenesses of U.S. soccer players Friday, which, according to instructions, were to be used to wish for a Mexico goal during the World Cup qualifier Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio. The back of the dolls’ jersey reads, “Gringos.”

So, Radio Shack dropped out as a sponsor once they learned of these dolls but Blockbuster stepped in! Guess we know how Blockbuster feels about White Americans. But hey, it’s all just lighthearted racism, what’s the big deal anyway.

Wonder if there is another line of dolls coming out with “spic” on the back? Probably not … that might be considered derogatory and we wouldn’t want that now would we?

    WOW!!! Canceling Blockbuster membership A.S.A.P.
