CPAC 2009 Rush Limbaugh Rockin’ the House
Rush Limbaugh rocked the house at CPAC late this afternoon. The atmosphere was electric and energizing. Nobdy, but nobody, gets Conservatives to erupt like Rush Limbaugh. I’ve never seen or heard Rush live and in person. This was his first appearance at CPAC and he definitely got the fire billowing in the audience.

I’ve got many more pics coming from a friend who really is good at pictures. But, in the meantime, here’s the video to Rush’s invigorating and elevating talk which lasted an hour and a half. All extemporaneous. The man is as he says, a radio professional!

CPAC 2009 Wayne LaPierre’s Explosive Performance
Wayne LaPierre gave a don’t miss speech at CPAC this morning. Some notes from his speech included an explosive interview with a CNN anchor where LaPierre demonstrated the dishonesty of a CNN reporter.
“Any attack on the Second Amendment is an attack on our freedom” Wayne LaPierre today
Loose quote “Credit rating of this Congress is branded into the flesh of your children and grandchildren”
LaPierre does a run through of the lies of the Barach Hussein Obama campaign regarding gun rights, all of which the media carried the Obami’s water for him in supporting these lies.
LaPierre talks about the UN’s global gun ban which will be making an end run on the United States now that the Obami is in office along with a compliant Hillary Clinton in the State Department.
I have never seen Wayne LaPierre speak in person and this guy is engaging, entertaining and will knock some sense into you if you have any sense. Unfortunately, there are too many people today who lost all semblance of common sense and they are the same people who voted for Barack Hussein Obama.
CPAC 2009
I apologize for not posting anything but I am at CPAC in Washington DC and I haven’t been hauling my laptop around the conference center with me. We are having an absolute blast here. I just can’t find the adjectives to express how much fun we have been having but it seems that time is just flying by with no time for anything other than getting from this session to the next.
For Thursday night we attended the premier of John Ziegler’s documentary “Media Malpractice – How Obama Got Elected and Palin was Targeted” at the National Press Club in DC. This documentary will make you angry at the media (especially if you’ve been living in a cave or deployed overseas).

I have pictures that I’ll post in a few days. Now it’s onward to Friday at CPAC. It’s going to be a fun and adventurous day. Tomorrow looks to be Senator Jim DeMint, Eagle Forum, Senator Tom Coburn, Wayne LaPierre, Redstate, Newt Gingrich, Online Bootcamp, Rep. Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Frank Gaffney and Geert Wilders and his his documentary “Fitna”.
Action packed day! Photos later…..
Wednesday Hero – 02/25/2009

19 years old from Knox, Pennsylvania
1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division
December 4, 2006
His mission was to patrol the streets of Adhamiyah in northeast Baghdad and find a place to put a 250-kilowatt generator that would provide electricity for more than 100 homes. But it’s a mission he wasn’t able to accomplish.
Shortly after Pfc. McGinnis’s convoy left the compound, and less than a mile from FOB Apache, an insurgent standing on a nearby rooftop threw a grenade into the sixth, and last, Humvee. “Grenade!” yelled McGinnis, who was manning the vehicle’s M2 .50-caliber machine gun. He tried to deflect the grenade but it fell into the Humvee and lodged between the radios.
“McGinnis turned and looked down and realized no one in the truck knew where the grenade was,” said Capt. Michael Baka, his company commander. “He knew everyone had their doors combat-locked and they wouldn’t be able to get out.”
Instead of jumping out of the truck to save his own life, like he had been trained to do, McGinnis threw his back against the radio mount, smothering the explosive with his body. The grenade exploded just as Pfc. McGinnis covered it. The blast filled the vehicle with black smoke and debris and blew the driver’s door and right passenger’s door wide open and blew the machine gun off its mount. The explosion hit McGinnis on his sides and his lower back, under his vest. He was killed instantly.
The other four soldiers in the Humvee suffered relatively minor injuries.
On the morning of December 4, 2006, before his convoy had left, Cpt. Baka has signed a waver promoting Pfc. McGinnis to Specialist and he was posthumously promoted to E-4.
For his heroic actions on that day, McGinnis was awarded the Silver Star and was nominated for a Medal of Honor which he received on June 2, 2008.

Army Charity accused of hoarding funds
This story is disturbing, looks like Jeff Donn of AP has actually done some investigating on the charity “Army Emergency Relief”. In the past I have heard stories about these service related charities whether it be the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force from individual service members which is why I’m so ready to believe what was found with this investigation.
Investigation: Army charity hoards millions
Between 2003 and 2007 — as many military families dealt with long war deployments and increased numbers of home foreclosures — Army Emergency Relief grew into a $345 million behemoth. During those years, the charity packed away $117 million into its own reserves while spending just $64 million on direct aid, according to an AP analysis of its tax records.Tax-exempt and legally separate from the military, AER projects a facade of independence but really operates under close Army control. The massive nonprofit — funded predominantly by troops — allows superiors to squeeze soldiers for contributions; forces struggling soldiers to repay loans — sometimes delaying transfers and promotions; and too often violates its own rules by rewarding donors, such as giving free passes from physical training, the AP found.
snip…..During that same five-year period, the smaller Navy and Air Force charities both put far more of their own resources into aid than reserves. The Air Force charity kept $24 million in reserves while dispensing $56 million in total aid, which includes grants, scholarships and loans not repaid. The Navy charity put $32 million into reserves and gave out $49 million in total aid.

John of Argggghh has a different take on this story and additional information! Looks like there may be an agenda here by the author of the story.

2009 House Joint Resolution 76 (Study “Tax Reform and Possible State Income Tax)
* Introduced by Rep. G. A. Hardaway (D) on February 11, 2009, to establish a special joint legislative study committee to study “tax reform in Tennessee, including whether to impose a state income tax.
o Referred to the House Finance, Ways & Means Committee on February 12, 2009.
2009 House Joint Resolution 77 (Extends Representatives’ Term of Office)
* Introduced by Rep. Eddie Yokley (D) on February 11, 2009, to amend the state constitution to extend the term of office for state representatives from two years to four years, and stagger them between odd and even numbered districts starting 2016.
o Referred to the House State & Local Government Committee on February 12, 2009.
Just what we need, Democrats who want to impose an income tax on us while also lengthening their term in office?
It is Time To Change The Way We Vote – Closed Primaries
The Conservative Women’s Action Network is supporting and advocating for a change to Tennessee laws regarding primary elections. We are supporting Debra Maggart and Bill Ketron’s bill (HB 0629/SB 0544)to require persons registering to vote to declare political party for voting in primary elections.
It is Time To Change The Way We Vote – Closed Primaries
As the country seems obsessed with the need for change, an area needs changing here in Tennessee. In some states, party membership actually means something. Why is it more meaningful? Because when you vote in a state that has a closed primary election voters stand shoulder to shoulder with like-minded individuals who are committed enough to a party to declare it on a voter registration. Yes, that is right: a closed primary. When you go to the polls for a primary, you should know that your party’s members are choosing your party’s candidates for the general election. There should be no members of the opposing party trying to manipulate the outcome. There should be no undeclared or independent voter s unless the party opts to open the primary to them. Why? At the end of a primary election day, for better or for worse, your party has spoken for itself.
A state has a more general, but equally legitimate, interest in protecting the overall integrity of the electoral process. Parties should be able to avoid primary election outcomes that will confuse or mislead the general electorate to the extent it relies on party labels as representative of certain ideologies; and preventing fraudulent and deceptive conduct, which scars the nominating process. Nader v. Schaffer, 417 F.Supp. 837, 845 (1976). The state has a legitimate interest in protecting party members’ associational rights, by legislating to “protect the party from intrusion by those with adverse political principles”. Ray v. Blair, 343 U.S. 214, 221-22 (1952). Primary election results (should be) a reflection of the will of party members, unblemished by the votes of those unconcerned with, if not actually hostile to, the principles, philosophies and goals of the party. Rosario v. Rockefeller, 458 F.2d 649, 652 (2d Cir. 1972).
In addition, a party could potentially save thousands of dollars each year because it would not have to call a special convention to hold elections for state and county party offices. By having a closed primary, it would be possible to take care of party business on the primary ballot. For example, executive board member candidates could be added to a state or county primary ballot. Delegates to national conventions are already selected this way in Tennessee.
Handling party business on the primary ballot could increase the number of people involved in the process of choosing party leaders. Increased participation keeps the party from becoming stale with the same people having a stranglehold on leadership year after year, decade after decade.
Tennessee, it is time for Change! Committed party members deserve the right to choose their candidates without outside manipulation. It is time to declare what party you belong to and it is time for closed primary elections.

A Trillion here, a trillion there
The Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac bailout last summer, the auto bailout last summer, the TARP I bailout, more auto bailouts, the trillion dollar “stimulus” and the most recent $75 billion for irresponsible mortgage holders from the Obami, but that isn’t enough yet.

Piglosi and Dingy Harry have more planned – Another Huge Spending Bill Planned For Next Week
Here we go again! House Republicans are bracing for another onslaught of out-of-control Democrat-authored spending as the omnibus bill is expected to hit the floor of the House as early as next week.
And it’ll be yet another spending bill House Republicans and the American people have not yet been allowed to see and the Democrats haven’t even bothered to read. As if the $1.2 trillion Democrats spent on “stimulus last week wasn’t enough of a disaster, this colossal bill encompasses the remaining nine appropriations bills for fiscal year 2009 sloughed off by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
House minority leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) called upon the Speaker Thursday to release the voluminous spending bill online without delay. “If Democratic leaders plan to schedule a vote on the half-trillion dollar omnibus spending bill next week, they should post the legislation online immediately so the American people have adequate time to read the measure and understand what is in it, Boehner said.
There is no end to the voracious appetite of the Democrat Pig!
Don’t Mess With Texas – Texas NG on High Alert

From Texas State Senator Dan Patrick:
Texas State Senator, Dan Patrick, was on FoxNews this morning at 8:45am. He said he had some “breaking news to share. Boy was it!!! The Texas State Legislature had been trying very hard to get the Obama Administration to respond to a critical situation on the Texas Border. The Administration had not gotten back with Texas as of last night. So the State of Texas told Washington D.C. basically they could go jump, and “we’ll take care of Texas!. As of last night… the Texas National Guard has been put on High Alert!!! This is the first time in history! Texas tried, desperately to get Washington’s approval… but when they could not get it… they acted on their own. Which I say…. it’s about damn time!!! I personally applaud the guts it took to defy the Fed’s and act in our best interest! In case you are unaware of what the problems are …. Sen. Dan Patrick spelled it out nicely!
1) 100’s of PRO-DRUG CARTEL Mexicans were blocking the entrance to the United States, yesterday and today, banging cars, shouting and holding signs. 10 people were killed Wed. and 12 more yesterday at the border (5 of which were children!!!)
2) They aren’t sure … but they think the Drug Cartel is paying the demonstrators to do what they’re doing.
3) This will spill over into the States! Mr. Patrick, and the other State officials,. are convinced that road-side bombs and car bombs will make it across the border and WILL NOT allow that to happen!!
4) Mexico is breaking out in Civil War in the western part of the border and they expect it to spread the entire border with no end in sight.
5) The National Guard will be activated as the scenario worsens and is on Alert now and will remain so until (and IF) Washington does something to end the danger on the border (Yeah… like that’s gonna happen!).
Glenn Beck’s 2014 scenario could be happening sooner than expected! There’s more info from a Feb. 12th appearance on Fox News by Sen. Dan Patrick.
Here’s Glenn Beck’s special from Feb. 20th on Fox News:

Let’s hope that DHS Secretary Napolitano get’s her head out of her butt to stop focusing on the US northern border!
