The Race Baiting Benediction at Inauguration

Rev. Joseph Lowery’s sixties type race baiting exhibits who is the racist and that would be Lowery. The Obami staff must have previewed this man’s “benediction” and given their stamp of approval to this racist speech. I am still learning just what the Obami means by hope and change and I’ve learned the election of a black man to the office of the Presidency clarifies how racist white Americans are today. Don’t believe what you see in front of you, stay mired in the 1960’s Rev Lowery.

From Michelle Malkin

The full paragraph:

“We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right, Lowery said.

I’m also wondering why black will not be asked to give back? This whole paragraph is very distasteful and low class.

Between the Obami’s appeal for socialism in his speech, Lowery’s appeal for a racist society and that lame poem, this was an uninspiring inauguration. I was really trying to motivate myself for all the hopey change the Obami has repeatedly told us he would bring to the United States. I wasn’t going to write anything on the inauguration since I figured if I didn’t have anything positive to say, just leave it alone. But Lowery changed that decision.

Truthfully, I believe we have turned a new stone with today’s Inauguration. And it actually was truly inspiring. It is a shame that you aren’t ready to walk a new path of change with the rest of America. Should you choose to put aside your bitter attitude and fight for a common cause, the rest of us will welcome you kindly.

Listen chacha or whatever your name is, I’ve put up with the most vile hatred of President Bush for the last 8 years from people of your libtard persuasion. They couldn’t even control their hate at the inauguration of their messiah. If I was bitter as you suggest I would be following in the path of your brethren and be calling the messiah names that I don’t allow on my blog. Save your pathetic platitudes for someone who cares.

    Dear Hat Trick,
You are not the “rest of America”. You were merely the majority in November who were either weak enough to be duped by the false prophet or prepared to vote for Pee Wee Herman (or Al Franken) as long as he was a dem. I do not wish to be welcomed kindly by any of your ilk. However, I was praying for change today….and it’s only been a few hours!

I think you should actually read the transcript of the benediction. It does NOT say “when black will not be asked to give back”. I found it refreshing and uplifting, certainly not racist. You seem to see racism even when it isn’t there. Get over it and get on with it. I am looking forward to watching the future unfold under Obama’s leadership. Finally, an intelligent and articulate man at the helm!

  • YGBSM says:

True, Rev. Lowry in fact said “when black will not be asked to get in back”. Nevertheless, that is just as outdated and nonsensical as the rest of his ramblings. And Rev. Wright, errrr, Lowry, in chastising whites to “do what’s right” (?!) is obviously unaware that it wasn’t only black people who put Obama in office; it was mostly whites.

Sorry kiddo, but I’ve been reading liberal bumper stickers for 8 years that tell me “Dissent is Patriotic” and I shall enjoy doing everthing I can to be a patrotic Obama basher.

Here is the FULL transcript (from CNN) of exactly what was said. I find it race-baiting, divisive, and inflammatory.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Rev. Joseph Lowery, a leader during the civil rights movement and former president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, delivered the inaugural ceremony’s benediction Tuesday on the west front of the U.S. Capitol.
“We truly give thanks for the glorious experience we’ve shared this day,” Lowery, 87, said in delivering the prayer.
He asked that Americans cling to the spirit of fellowship embodied at the inauguration.
“We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right,” Lowery said.

  • Cyndi says:

PC, the transcript you are showing is a BLOG, not directly from CNN. The actual line as said at the inauguration was:
“Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around … when yellow will be mellow … when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.”
This is from the Associated Press. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5h4SrWpZNd-yocKSO7_9FO51iLJowD95R4RTG0
I am sure he was referring to the old expectations of Blacks being expected to sit in the back of the bus.

  • Toni says:

Even with the corrected quote, I have to ask, when was the last time Blacks or any minority told to go to the back of the bus? What was it 40 or 50 years ago?

“Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around … when yellow will be mellow … when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen.

No matter how you try to slice and dice what this man said, it’s racist!

  • joel says:

…and so exactly what is meant by “yellow will be mellow”? (Actually, I’m not interested in the answer even if there is one.) It’s like a third grade poetry exercise, and a poor one at that….but as long as they can talk about color! Lowery is a whack-job, but more disturbingly a racist. As long as he and Obama, and Wright, and Winfry continue to focus on color, they are doing nothing but stirring the pot and invoking the very sentiments that Dr. King meant to eradicate. There has been more racist commentary spoken by lib media, politicians and the rest of the kool-aid drinkers than than any conservatives have uttered in a decade. It’s an amazing thing to witness real “change”.

  • Tom Davis says:

What disappoints me is the Obama staff read and approved this prayer during a time when we need to unite our nation during this tempest. Put your seat belt on—change is coming and it’s going to be a a rough ride based upon the lack of discernment shown from our new leaders. Let pray that the fish is not rotten at the head.

  • Yippee says:

He said what needed to be said…for many, many, many years, white did NOT do what was right…and in some cases…still doesn’t.

  • Kamtaro says:

“black will not be asked to get in back”

Outdated? Really? Try the Gates arrest for starters.
