Obama Administration balls aren’t as big as people had expected.
I ripped the title off from Free Republic and it’s a comment from Kristinn. It was just too funny to pass up. The comments are from a posting talking about all the inaugural balls which have been canceled due to low ticket sales.
The euphoria over the inauguaration of Barack Hussein Obama appears to have its limits as several unofficial inaugural balls have been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales, while at least one ball has slashed ticket prices.
The Washington Times and The Washington Post reported on the troubles some of the inaugural festivities are having bringing in celebrants. High ticket prices in a tough economy are being blamed for the troubles, however the $10,000 per ticket Creative Coalition ball sold out weeks ago.
Among the inaugural events cancelled were the the D.C. Inaugural Ball at the Old Post Office Pavillion, a Georgetown party hosted by Luke Russert, the son of the late NBC News icon Tim Russert, The Veterans Ball at the St. Regis Hotel and the American Music Ball at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
The People’s Ball at the Grand Hyatt cut its ticket prices by $100, from $350 to $250.
I thought it interesting that Luke Russert’s ball went down. This is someone who has ridden his Father’s (Tim Russert) name to get ahead in his career.
