Ugh – watch this interview with Ira Brody (Tn State Treasurer Candidate)
I find it just astonishing that either Ira Brody or Justin Wilson were considered for a Constitutional Office. News Channel 5’s Phil Williams interviewed Ira Brody on last nights news. Not only has this man lived in the state a very short time but I want to know how the ‘bleep’ did he get so connected in a short amount of time? I’ve lived in Tennessee for about the same amount of time as Brody and I think I’m more knowledgeable about the state then him ( at least I knew details on the Hall Tax) which is pretty strange for someone who’s business is investments.
Ira’s public demeanor and interview skills are appalling and the answers to some of William’s questions are even more concerning. It seemed like Brody’s attempt to answer each question was labored and filled with question marks. Brody doesn’t seem to know what he’s done in his own life. He didn’t know when he exactly moved to Tennessee. I can still give you the exact date and year.
Interviewing with Republican lawmakers for the state treasurer’s job, former New York investment banker Ira Brody repeatedly characterized himself as a Tennessean with well-established roots. Here’s what he told Phil Williams:
Brody: “I moved to Tennessee, I think, almost five years ago.”
Williams: “What year was that?”
Brody: “2004.”
That’s what he also put on his application for the job. But just try to pin him down on exactly when.
Williams: “At what point in 2004 was that?”
Brody: “Early, middle to late — somewhere in there.”So why do his New York voting records, obtained by NewsChannel 5 Investigates, show him casting his ballot there in late 2005?
Williams: “We checked your voting records in New York, and you were still voting in New York in 2004 and 2005.”
Brody: “I’m pretty sure, the last time I voted in New York. I wasn’t sure when I shifted my voter registration. I still do own property in New York.”
Williams: “So you were a resident of Tennessee and still voting in New York?”
Brody: “I had property there and I don’t think I shifted my registration at that time. That may have been the case. I don’t remember exactly.”
The GOP Nominating Committee on Constitutional Officers seems to be abdicating their responsibilities in light of the recent controversy regarding the candidates for Comptroller and Treasurer.

³This process gave our members and the public the opportunity to see these applicants interviewed and talk about their qualifications for these jobs,² said Senate Republican Caucus Chairman Diane Black (R-Hendersonville). ³After talking with our members and reviewing the public comments, we have determined that there are many qualified individuals that could fill these roles successfully. Therefore all candidates interviewed will be placed on the ballot.²
The joint caucuses will convene at a time to be announced, when the members will be given ballots with the names of all the candidates for each respective office. The top two vote-getters for each category will move on to the next round of voting. The voting will continue until a candidate has received enough votes to become the nominee from the Joint Republican Caucus.
“The new process we have undertaken has been well received across the state,² said Senate Majority Leader Mark Norris (R-Collierville). ³I hope it will prove helpful not only to legislators in whose hands rest the final decision but to all Tennesseans who have the most at stake.”
“I believe opening the process was very successful, and I appreciate the comments that were sent to my office,² said House Majority Leader Jason Mumpower (R-Bristol). ³This was a very difficult task, as we had very qualified candidates. I look forward to nominating a candidate, and I know that whoever is chosen will make our state proud.”
Sorry, Jason, but you have a lot more confidence than I do. The new TN GOP Leadership has come out of the gate with a very disappointing performance. Seems to me that you’re trying not to look or act like Democrat Jimmy Naifeh and his henchmen but with the consideration of either Justin Wilson or Ira Brody as candidates there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of ‘change’ or ‘hope’!
Here’s a suggestion for Tennessee, how about electing the Constitution Officers? The results couldn’t be any worse than what’s happening today or in the past under the Democrats!

I’m way off topic with this comment.
I just rented at DVD called “Songcatcher.” Have you seen it? It has the setting of Bear Creek.
@Always On Watch
Great music in that movie.
