The Rangel Rule Bill

From Rep. John Carter of Tx (Republican):

“Rangel Rule”

All U.S. taxpayers would enjoy the same immunity from IRS penalties and interest as House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Obama Administration Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, if a bill introduced today by Congressman John Carter (R-TX) becomes law.

Carter, a former longtime Texas judge, today introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009, HR 735, which would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from charging penalties and interest on back taxes against U.S. citizens. Under the proposed law, any taxpayer who wrote “Rangel Rule on their return when paying back taxes would be immune from penalties and interest.

The Corner – Ramesh Ponnuru

Rep Carter needs to add Tom Daschle’s name to the bill. From Pat Dollard via Politico:

Former Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle paid $100,000 in back taxes after failing to report his use of a limo and driver to the IRS – throwing a stumbling block into his nomination as Barack Obama’s health and human services secretary.

Daschle used a Cadillac and driver while as a consultant to a New York City private equity firm, InterMedia Advisors, and did not report the service on his income tax.

Another tax evading Democrat! According to Joe Biden, it’s patriotic to pay taxes. Not a surprise there are all these unpatriotic Democrats. Don’t be too surprised if Daschle’s nomination slides right by Republicans, I’m sure that Daschle is the ONLY one qualified for this position and we’ve got to move quickly to get socialized healthcare foisted on Americans.

Just remember American taxpayers, paying taxes is only for the little people. Not all those important people that the Obami wants as his cabinet secretaries. The law is only for “the little people”.

Update: There’s more on Daschle besides just the nonpayment of taxes on a car and driver.

Michelle Malkin: With the unreported income from the use of a car service in the amounts of $73,031 in 2005, $89,129 in 2006 and $93,096 in 2007; the unreported consulting income of $83,333 in 2007; and the adjusted reductions in charitable contributions, Daschle adds a total of $353,552 in additional income and reduced donations, meaning an additional tax payment of $128,203, in addition to $11,964 in interest.

There’s also unreported travel from the non-profit Educap (student loan provider).

I’m sure this will be all just be a simple oversight that ANYONE would make. And the 10 Republicans will just step in line to vote for another Democrat tax dodger. Let’s check with those Republicans to see what they have to say:
Corker (R-TN), Cornyn (R-TX), Crapo (R-ID), Ensign (R-NV), Graham (R-SC), Gregg (R-NH), Hatch (R-UT), Shelby (R-AL), Snowe (R-ME), Voinovich (R-OH).

btw – The Senate is having a closed door meeting on this? I didn’t know they could have ‘private’ Senate sessions without the public having access. All a part of the new tranparency of the Obami and Democrat policy.

It isn’t enough that Unions have destroyed American Auto Companies……

Unions now want federal arbitration to determine wages and benefits for private industry. How’s that for government taking over control of private businesses. It’s called European socialism which is what has almost destroyed employment in European countries. I’m sure there are those collectivists out there who will welcome a change like this. Just think all those forced holidays, bankrupt pensions, limited hours per week but you’ll be making a great wage with no possibility of ever losing your job. What does that remind me of – oh yeah, the teacher’s unions.

IBD Editorial – Little-Noticed Feature Of ‘Card Check’ Bill Gives Unions Edge In Binding Arbitration

What most people don’t realize is that the card check bill would also give the federal government the power to set wages, benefits and work rules for employers in a wide variety of industries throughout the economy.

Under this bill, once a union is formed, employers would be under a strict deadline to reach an agreement on all of the union’s demands. If no agreement is reached after just 120 days, the matter would go to a federal arbitration panel, which would then write and hand down the union contract. That contract would bind both parties for two years with the same force as if it had been agreed to through full and fair negotiations.

For the first time, a federal authority would set private-sector wages, specific work rules and other workplace restrictions, including forcing employees into underfunded and unsustainable pension plans.

This isn’t a slide into socialism by the Dhimmi’s, this is a jump over the cliff with all the sheep following each other.

HR 1 American Recovery & Reinvestment Act 2009 passes House (all Republicans vote no)

What Dhimmicrats are calling the $825 Billion Stimulus Stimuless bill passed almost along party lines late this afternoon. I’m actually impressed, the GOP stuck together in the House! They decided not to be the Dhimmis useful idiots for a change. Of course, the Senate will be another whole ball of wax. I’m sure the Dhimmi’s who voted against the bill were given permission since the Dhimmis easily had the votes to pass it. Wonder what happened to all those blue dog Democrats? You know, the Dhimmis that run in Republican districts, who campaign on fiscal restraint!

Roll Call – House Passes Stimulus Without GOP Support

The House passed an $825 billion economic stimulus bill Wednesday night but without the sweeping bipartisan support sought by President Barack Obama.

11 Democrats voted no on the bill. Now we get to see what the Senate does with the bill considering they are porking it up even more, the Senate bill approaches a trillion dollars. Let’s see which Republicans become useful idiots for Harry Reid and the Obami.

Dems don’t want infrastructure in HR 1 named after KIA Troops

Erik at Redstate received an email yesterday that Rep. Thad McCotter (R-MI) introduced an amendment which would name roads, bridges and buildings etc built with funds from HR 1 (the stimuless bill)after US Troops killed in action or emergency workers or law enforcement killed in the line of duty.

The House Rules committee where this amendment was introduced was voted down by Democrats. ALL.THE.DEMOCRATS.ON.THE.COMMITTEE.VOTED.NO! Nine Democrats voted no and all 3 Republicans voting yes.

What a bunch of pikers. They always say how they support the troops, this was low hanging fruit for them and they still couldn’t do this. Way to go Dhimmis, show your true colors – anti-military and pro-surrender.  I suppose they’d rather name those roads and bridges etc after themselves.

Democrats!

It isn’t that the public sector is too big, it’s that the private sector is too small!

Isn’t that just too classic of a comment by a socialist in the UK. The UK is in BIG big trouble and it’s all due to their socialist policies. This could be the United States in the not too distant future.

Pat Dollard has a story out of the UK from the Times Online UK‘Soviet’ Britain swells amid the recession

PARTS of the United Kingdom have become so heavily dependent on government spending that the private sector is generating less than a third of the regional economy, a new analysis has found.

The study of “Soviet Britain has found the government’s share of output and expenditure has now surged to more than 60% in some areas of England and over 70% elsewhere.

Experts believe the recession will tighten the state’s grip still further as benefit handouts soar and Labour directs public sector organisations to create jobs to soak up unemployment.

Here’s more frightening numbers:

Across the whole of the UK, 49% of the economy will consist of state spending, while in Wales, the figure will be 71.6% – up from 59% in 2004-5. Nowhere in mainland Britain, however, comes close to Northern Ireland, where the state is responsible for 77.6% of spending, despite the supposed resurgence of the economy after the end of the Troubles.

Keep doing what you’re doing Dhimmicrats and you too can bankrupt a country just like the socialists in the UK!

This Weeks Post Was Suggested And Written By Cynthia

Sgt James E. Craig
Sgt James E. Craig
27 years old from Hollywood, South Carolina
1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division
January 28, 2008
U.S. Army

James, 27, was killed on January 28, 2008, in Mosul, Iraq, along with four other soldiers when the unit encountered an IED, followed by an ambush from a nearby Mosque. It has been a year since James was killed. I miss him each day.

James was on his third deployment to Iraq. There are so many things about James that I admired. He was ‘loud’ and funny and articulate and sweet – even calling himself ‘Sweet Soldier’ – and brave and tough. He was a devout Christian and more comfortable with telling people he was than anyone I ever knew – he had a enviable, easy comfort with this faith. It would be so easy to write and write about James, but let me share some portions of his letters – his long and articulate letters.

“…I am very much looking forward to this war being over. However, I fully support everything that is going on over here ever since I saw first hand what the real situation was. Our media doesn’t portray the truth of this operation or the necessity to the people here. They need freedom and desperately cry out for someone to help them. … I know one thing, God wants me here.”

“The war here is stating to come to an end. It will be a slow transition period where the responsibility of the battle space is handed over to the growing Iraqi Army. It all depends on the Iraqis if we are able to leave them with it safely.”

“…it is a tale of my wonderful journey where I made memories I will never forget and stood up for something that I believe in…that sweet taste of freedom when the day is done and the knowledge that I have done something to ensure the positive future of my loved ones. And, you should know that it comforts me the most that what I do protects wonderful people like you.”

Obama to World

Al-Arabiya’s interview with the Obami wasn’t really anything that surprised me. After all, we knew Obami doesn’t believe in American exceptionalism. He also I believe sees himself more as a President of the World vs the United States. Narcissistic and arrogant, of course, but that’s Obami. His wife confirmed this view of the United States when she declared that for the first time in my adult life I’m proud of my country.

He starts off the interview with this:

THE PRESIDENT: Well, I think the most important thing is for the United States to get engaged right away. And George Mitchell is somebody of enormous stature. He is one of the few people who have international experience brokering peace deals.

And so what I told him is start by listening, because all too often the United States starts by dictating — in the past on some of these issues — and we don’t always know all the factors that are involved. So let’s listen.

His delusions of grandeur continue with his plans to bring peace to the Middle East through discourse. Good luck with all those suicide bombers and he better pray they don’t migrate to the open borders of the United States.

Call this what it is – A Welfare Bill

Finally the Dhimmicrats are going to get what they want. After half a century of pushing for a socialist state, their latest spending bill, which they’ve labeled the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (such a feel good name that doesn’t say the real intentions of the bill), will accomplish their socialist agenda. To avoid total responsibility for this final movement to socialism they need their useful idiots as cover. The Dhimmicrats don’t need any Republican support for this travesty, they have the votes without it. And don’t believe for one second they give a rip about bi-partisanship on this bill, they want total capitulation from Republican legislators. BUT, they do want to be able to say this was a bi-partisan bill for cover and there are too many Republican legislators more than willing to become the useful idiots for the Dhimmicrats and the Obami.

Unfortunately George W Bush’s abdication of free market principles opened the door for this mess the country has entered. Republicans carried the water for Bush in 2008 just like Republicans carried the water for Hoover in 1931. Franklin Roosevelt also took that door opening in 1932 and put Hoover’s plan on steroids to shove the country into a decade long depression.

Jim Manzi at the Corner studied the HR1 (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act), he came to the conclusion we are in for The European Social Welfare State.

He mapped spending by category (other than General Spending):
Social Protection – ~$90B
Education – ~$90B
Environment – ~$55B
Defense is only ~3% and Public Safety is only ~1% of the total spending.

In other words, the net effect of this bill is to shift the distribution of U.S. government spending as a whole away from defense and public safety and toward social programs: for good or ill, to make the U.S. into more of a European-style social welfare state. Because the amount of spending is so huge, this will be a material, not notional, shift. Eventually, we will emerge from this recession/depression/whatever it’s going to be. When that happens, is this really the kind of government we’re going to want?

Per Manzi if the economy doesn’t recover from this massive government spending spree, the odds of any of this spending being rolled back is nil.

Or second, we enter a new Depression, or more likely, a Japan of the 1990s long-term recession. Unemployment is stuck well above 10%. The mood of the country is deeply pessimistic, and government programs are a lifeline for a good chunk of the population. In which of these two scenarios is it realistic to expect that the 2009 increases to food stamps, unemployment compensation, healthcare benefits or HUD housing assistance will really be rolled back in 2012-2015? Neither, as far as I can see.

When government supports you, they call the shots. I could have sworn that the Obami and the Dhimmicrats committed themselves to pay as you go. Obama said in the 3rd debate(I think) that for any new spending he would cut other spending. He was going to go through the budget line item by line item.

But, of course, that was before he was elected.
