How did some of those 2008 predictions come out?
There’s some really choice quotes in this Business Week column. My favorite is the Barney Frank prediction on Fannie and Freddie.
3. “I think this is a case where Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE – News) and Fannie Mae (NYSE:FNM – News) are fundamentally sound. They’re not in danger of going under I think they are in good shape going forward.” — Barney Frank (D-Mass.), House Financial Services Committee chairman, July 14, 2008
Two months later, the government forced the mortgage giants into conservatorships and pledged to invest up to $100 billion in each.
This one is even more amazing considering the short timespan between the quote and it’s demise:
5. “No! No! No! Bear Stearns is not in trouble.” — Jim Cramer, CNBC commentator, Mar. 11, 2008Five days later, JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM – News) took over Bear Stearns with government help, nearly wiping out shareholders.
Obama The Magic Negro
Since I’ve been at my parents I’ve watched CNN, MNNBC and FNC – my Dad is a channel surfer and controls the remote. At home I’ve gotten away from watching any of the cable news or network news. I pretty much get all of my news off the internet. So it has been interesting to watch the reporting on this story with Chip Saltsman, all of the media has neglected to authenticate the origin of the phrase “Magic Negro”. Personally, I am not a supporter of Saltsman for RNC Chair. That Saltsman was Campaign Manager for Mike Huckabee showed me the kind of Republican Saltsman is, easily conned by slick politicians.
Francis Rice of NBRA demonstrates the hypocrisy of the media in her NBRA Email Newsletter:
If it were not so hypocritical, it would be comical how Democrats and their media allies have created a media firestorm over a parody on racism in the Democratic Party. The Democrats’ display of rank hypocrisy on race is a familiar scenario. First, Democrats exhibit vile racism. Then, any Republican who points out the Democrats’ display of vile racism is attacked by Democrats as being racist.
The current target of this Democratic Party racial jujitsu is RNC chairman candidate Chip Saltsman. So, what did Saltsman do to warrant being called a racist? Well, he dared to distribute a music CD with a parody about the fact that back Democrat David Ehrenstein called Sen. Barack Obama a “Magic Negro” in an article published by the left-wing, Democrat-controlled “Los Angeles Times.” Huh?
None of the people now trashing Saltsman uttered one peep of protest when the article entitled “Obama the Magic Negro” was first published in the “Los Angeles Times” on March 19, 2007 with the subtitle: “The Illinois senator lends himself to white America’s idealized, less-than-real black man.” Below is the link to that article.
http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ehrenstein19mar19,0,5335087.story?coll=la-opinion-center
Sadly, some high-profile Republicans who should know better have joined the Democrats and the mainstream news media in their Republican bashing frenzy.
Lost in the media uproar is the fact that the parody has been broadcast several times on the radio, and the satirical content understood by the more than 20 million listeners of the popular Rush Limbaugh Show. One is left to wonder if the critics have even listened to the parody.
Where was all this outrage over racism when the Democrats used despicable racial stereotypes (just as Democrats did during the days of slavery and Jim Crow) to slur black professionals, such as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State Colin Powell and former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele?
Brazenly, on the left-wing Internet website called “The News Blog,” Democrats posted a doctored
photograph of Steele, depicting him as a “Simple Sambo.” Cartoonist Jeff Danziger depicted Rice as an ignorant, barefoot “mammy,” reminiscent of the stereotyped black woman in the movie Gone with the Wind who remarked: “I don’t know nothin’ ’bout birthin’ no babies.” Black comedian Harry Belafonte and Rev. Al Sharpton publicly denounced Powell as a “House Negro.” NAACP Chairman Julian Bond equated the Republican Party with the Nazi Party and called Rice and Powell “tokens.”
The liberal media showed not a hint of concern about racial insensitivity when Obama campaigned for white Democrat Benjamin L. Cardin and against Michael Steele during the 2006 Maryland senate race, not long after Obama issued a letter of support for the re-election of white Democrat and former Ku Klux Klansman Robert Byrd.
Not one word of angst was uttered by the liberal press when a black Democrat pundit on national television called black Democrat Juan Williams a “Happy Negro.” What offense did Williams commit that resulted in such a vicious racial slur? He had the temerity to defy the Democratic Party’s “thought police” and wrote a book called “Enough: The Phony Leaders, Dead-end Movements and Culture of Failure That Are Undermining Black America.” His book exposes how the failed socialist polices of the Democrats who have been running black communities for the past 40 years have turned those communities into economic and social wastelands.
As author Michael Scheuer stated, the Democratic Party is the party of the four S’s: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism. Visit the website www.NBRA.info on the Internet to see the racist cartoons of Rice and Steele and the details about the Democratic Party’s 150-year history of racism.
The time is long overdue for Republicans to stop cowering over the issue of race. Republicans should cease attacking fellow Republicans for telling the truth about Democrats, recapture the Republican Party’s rich civil rights legacy, and shed the light of truth on the failed socialism and racism in the Democratic Party – past and present.
From the LAT column by David Ehrenstein:
But it’s clear that Obama also is running for an equally important unelected office, in the province of the popular imagination — the “Magic Negro.”
The Magic Negro is a figure of postmodern folk culture, coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, to explain a cultural figure who emerged in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education. “He has no past, he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist,” reads the description on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro .
Rush Limbaugh has continually broadcast the origin of this phrase whenever playing the song “Obama The Magic Negro” but the media’s hatred and envy of Rush precludes them from telling the truth.
Was use of this parody by Chip Saltsman wise in this political culture, probably not. Will this crater Saltsman’s bid for RNC Chair, probably. I am a Ken Blackwell supporter for RNC Chairman.
Oprah Suckered Again
Obama adorer and Queen of The Afternoon Mindless Drones has been suckered on another phony ‘true’ story.
A Holocaust survivor’s amazing tale of romance – hailed by Oprah as “the single greatest love story in 22 years of doing this show” – is an outrageous fabrication, fellow camp survivors and experts told The Post. The group debunking the account hopes to prevent the memoir “Angel at the Fence: The True Story of a Love that Survived” from hitting stores in February and stop a movie that is already in the works.
Elan Steinberg, vice president of the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors and Their Descendents, has asked Berkley Books to not print the tome, penned by Nazi death-camp survivor Herman Rosenblat, 79.
The retired TV repairman writes of his unlikely savior, a 9-year-old Jewish girl who would throw a starving 15-year-old Rosenblat apples over a barbed-wire fence at the Schlieben concentration camp, part of the Buchenwald death camp in Germany.
Maybe we could give the Fraud of the Year award to Oprah!
2008 Story of the Year – Media
2008 was the year the ‘Mainstream’ Media officially died. It became an official mouthpiece for the Dhimmicrats and Obami ‘The Messiah’. The fawning over Obami is so over the top it’s mind numbing. Now the media thinks to workout every day is something to be ooh’d and ahh’d over but when it comes to President Bush and his daily workout routine it was disturbing and creepy.
Austin Hill talks about his time spent on Nov. 4th and 5th in the McCain camp watching the American media and the foreign media.
Later that night, when the clock struck 9pm on the West Coast, and California was “called for Obama, and Obama was thus declared the winner of the election, several American journalists began cheering, “high-fiving each other, and dancing about in the McCain media center. A shot of staffers jumping and hugging on the set at CNN in Atlanta appeared on our big screen monitors, as well. “Oh dear God, Ian exclaimed in his thick Irish brogue. “You weren’t jokin about the bias.
“Pardon me I replied, not quite understanding his point.
“I said you weren’t jokin about bias in American media he said. “What’s with all this celebration for one candidate over the other?
“It’s real I told him. “You’re seeing some American media professionals in a rare moment of candor. Usually the bias is more subtle, but it’s always present.
More shocking examples of media bias in 2008 was the coverage of Governor Sarah Palin and ‘Joe the Plumber’.
Response to Tennessean Editorial on Auto Bailout
Since it is a rare occasion that a contrary position is included in response to an opinion piece I’m posting this from a friend who wrote a letter to the editor regarding this editorial.
Editorial board offers only its opinion (that being it’s left wing agenda opinion).
Response to editorial from Cynthia McClard:
I sent this letter to the Tennessean following the outrageous article on the front page of the Issues section by the editor. I know that it will not be published. Therefore, I am sending it to you so that you can see that I did try to enlighten them.
CynthiaMe thinks you protest too much. I read the article “Editorial board offers only its opinion”. You were right that the bailout is a complex subject. However, I never read in your paper anything about the impact of the bailout on the taxpayer not did I read how this affects the deficit. We only heard how it would impact workers. On the policy side, why did we not have an article from Senator Corker on the editorial page outlining his proposal? He was a major player in crafting the legislation and he is our Senator.
Me thinks you protest too much because so many people understand that your covering of the issues on the editorial page as well as in other areas of the paper are sorely lacking in balance. The arrogance in your article was appalling. With the advent of the internet, news is much easier to access. Now, it is much harder for newspapers to limit reporting of issues without accountability. In the future, it would be better for you and those at “The Tennessean” to look at issues through all eyes not just your own bias.
I’m not sure if the print media will ever wake up and smell the coffee but there’s at least 50% of the population that isn’t of the left wing variety. Most of us in that 50% do not subscribe or bother to read The Tennessean. Personally, I don’t read The Tennessean, why should I buy a newspaper that believes and advocates that I’m a racist simply because I don’t vote for Harold Ford Jr (and asserts this in a ‘news article’ a few days before the election) or Barack Hussein Obama. It’s no wonder that so many media institutions are going the way of video tape. If you don’t adapt and appeal to the wider audience you go out of business. Course you never know, media could be the next industry to rape the taxpayer to ‘bail’ them out!
Constitution for the New Deal
For those who believe that FDR was a savior and who now believe that the Obami is the Messiah, this is a satire. I don’t want you people of dim thought to misunderstand this piece from 1937 during the time of FDR’s major push toward the socialization of the United States.
Constitution for the New Deal
by H. L. Mencken
THIS SATIRICAL PIECE FIRST APPEARED IN The American Mercury,, 41 (June 1937), 129-36, and was reprinted in condensed form by The Reader’s Digest, 31 (July 1937), 27-29. In order to indicate what reached the widest audience, the condensed version appears here.
The principal cause of the uproar in Washington is a conflict between the swift- moving idealism of the New Deal and the unyielding hunkerousness of the Constitution of 1788. What is needed, obviously, is a wholly new Constitution, drawn up with enough boldness and imagination to cover the whole program of the More Abundant Life, now and hereafter.

It’s now against the law to be annoying in Brighton,Michigan
When I first started to read this story I thought it was talking about Brighton in Britain. Something like this wouldn’t surprise me considering what is going on in Londonstan. Brighton is 40 miles west of Detroit and 20 miles north of Ann Arbor, Michigan. So we’ve still got that whole Muslim/Islam thing going on.
From the Livingston Daily.com
The Brighton City Council approved a more stringent code for public conduct, and those who violate the rules – including annoying someone else – could be ticketed and fined. The ordinance was modeled after one in Royal Oak, where Brighton Police Chief Tom Wightman previously was employed.
One of the sections reads, “It shall be unlawful for a person to engage in a course of conduct or repeatedly commit acts that alarm or seriously annoy another person and that serve no legitimate purpose.
Another section states, “It shall be unlawful for any person in the city to insult, accost, molest or otherwise annoy, either by word of mouth, sign or motions any person in any public place.
That’s what happens when you become a mini Middle Eastern state. I bet the Obami was thinking this state was one of those 57 states he’d been to.
“The left-wing thought police are forever paying lip service to the ideals of free expression, but they are the first ones in line to place restrictions on it for those with whom they disagree” Rush Limbaugh from See, I Told You So, 1993
Pelousi fiddles while the economy goes down in flames
Nancy Pelousi has no problem telling Wall Street or Auto executives to cut their salaries but look at what she’s just done! She’s given herself and Congress a PAY RAISE! A pay raise in a time when so many Americans are losing their jobs. How heartless and money grubbing can you get? She’s taking money out of the mouths of children by extorting the American taxpayer to give herself a raise.
Hypocrisy: With workers losing jobs by the millions and taxpayers forced to rescue banks and carmakers, how does Nancy Pelosi’s Congress show it cares? By giving themselves a big pay raise.
What a great time for taxpayers to give senators and congressmen a $2.5 million jump in their already bloated salaries. It’s tough to get by on $217,400 a year if you’re House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — even if, as the Washington Times reported, you funneled nearly $100,000 from your political action committee to your husband’s business over a decade.
Last year, Pelosi supported a bill banning payments from PACs to congressional spouses, but that didn’t stop her from doing it. Most members of Congress have to subsist on only $169,300 annually, so the $4,700 raise they’re giving themselves next year should help keep them off food stamps.
It’s hard to know where to start in expressing outrage. The last thing this Congress deserves is a raise. A new report from Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., found over $1 billion in taxpayer funding wasted on nonsense ranging from searching in vain for Alaskan ice worms to an airplane-shaped, nonworking gas station in Tennessee to nearly $300,000 for specialty potatoes for high-end restaurants.
Then there’s the tone-deaf lack of empathy for working Americans lucky even to have a job, let alone get a raise.
Must be the audacity of hope and change!
What goes unmentioned in this sob story about Veronica Ventura-Cruz?
Let’s see, this couple from Mexico has been in the US for 2 years, speaks no English and in that 2 years they’ve had 3 children(set of twins). Wonder who paid for those hospital bills? It’s a sob story for donations for what is probably an illegal alien family living Knox County, TN. They were just trying to find a better life at the expense of an American citizen or LEGAL resident but why bother with those issues eh Knox News.

Veronica Ventura-Cruz holds her 4-month-old daughter, Danna Cruz-Ventura, as her 4-year-old twin sons, Jonathan Cruz-Ventura, left, and Yair Cruz-Ventura, play nearby. The family, including husband Marcos Cruze-Jose, will receive an ESF basket this Christmas. Clay Owen
So folks, here we are in difficult economic times and we’re paying for alleged illegal aliens (because Knox News apparently doesn’t think this is relevant)and we’re supposed to have empathy AND donate to support them as if it isn’t bad enough we end up supporting them through a number of government subsidies which are meant for AMERICANS not illegal aliens.
Doesn’t the brazenness of this story just stick in your craw? It does mine. Why isn’t this family being deported is my question.
