Gov Sarah Palin – McCain’s VP Choice – Brilliant!

As a reluctant McCain supporter his choice of Gov Sarah Palin is very exciting for me. I really like this woman, she’s smart, conservative, pro-drilling, pro-troops, a looker and a scrapper in the political arena. I have long thought Sarah Palin would be a wonderful choice for McCain but honestly never thought he’d select her. It’s got to move McCain into the pro-ANWR drilling camp. I believed McCain would do what he normally does and that is to poke Conservatives in the eye. This sucks the air out of Obama and presents a huge challenge for Biden in any VP debate.

Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean. Look at her – she loves big guns! Yeehaw.

If there was a “female” problem for McCain, it’s gone. I truly believe this selection wins the race for McCain. I can now put a McCain sign in my yard and a McCain bumper sticker on my vehicle. It puts enthusiasm back in this election for me.

Obama’s Orgy of Spending

I hadn’t really planned on listening to Obama’s speech tonight, I figured I’d catch the beginning and then change channels. However, I ended up stuck in traffic on I-65 South with 3 lanes closed due to resurfacing. It looked like semi-truck convention. Because of this I ended up listening to his whole speech. I think John at Powerline quite adequately summarizes my reaction to the Obami list of extravangzi. Pretty much the whole speech was your garden variety liberal speake which is nuttier than squirrel crap.

Was It Effective Demagoguery, Or Ineffective?

Obama outlined, in the vaguest terms possible, countless billions or trillions of new federal spending. How would he pay for it? By “closing corporate loopholes”–like what? The idea that Obama’s orgy of spending can be funded by “closing corporate loopholes” is frankly childish. By increasing taxes on the top 5% of taxpayers, i.e., precisely those who are grossly over-taxed already. The top 5% already pay 60% of all federal income taxes. And by “eliminating programs that no longer work.” Really? Which ones? No one seriously imagines that Obama–let alone the Democratic Congress!–has any intention of eliminating any significant government programs.

Obama says he wants to become independent of foreign oil in ten years. How? By tapping natural gas reserves. I wonder whether Obama, unlike Nancy Pelosi, understands that natural gas is a fossil fuel for which we must drill offshore, in ANWR, etc. There was perhaps some news here: Obama also came out for developing nuclear energy. But does anyone imagine that nuclear energy development would go forward in a Democratic Congress and White House? In one of his many cheap shots, Obama said that we import three times as much foreign oil as when John McCain went to Washington. That’s no doubt true, because the Democratic Party has enacted legislation that makes it impossible to develop our domestic resources.

I along with John will be waiting breathlessly for the townhall debates between McCain and Obama.

Temple of Doom

The NY Post is saying McCain’s campaign is calling Barack’s over the top Temple of Doom, Barackopolis. I think the Temple of Doom is more appropriate.

John McCain’s campaign mocked the massive neoclassical set created for Obama’s speech at 75,000-seat Invesco Field. Some Republicans have dubbed it the “Barackopolis,” while others suggested the delegates should wear togas to fit in among the same Doric columns the ancient Greeks believed would stroke the egos of Zeus and Athena.

“It’s only appropriate that Barack Obama would descend down from the heavens and spend a little time with us mere mortals when accepting the Democratic nomination,” said Republican National Committee spokesman Danny Diaz.

The McCain campaign quickly dispatched a memo calling the stage the “Temple of Obama.”

“We would have expected to read something like this in The Onion. Fortunately for us, it’s true. Unfortunately for Obama, it’s true,” a McCain adviser told The Post.

I’m expecting the seas to part and the sky to open with a huge ray of light to shine down on the Obamassiah when he enters the stage. The Dhimmicrats will all swoon and talk in tongues. Oh yeah, that’s normal so nevermind.

DNC – American Flag is just so unhip

Over at Redstate, Absentee did a visual study to find American flags that the DNC had put up around the Pepsi Center and not including any which are standard fare for a convention center.

Interesting game – “Find the Flag”. You’d think it would be a piece of cake right? Not so fast and don’t you DARE question their patriotism. The American Flag at the DNC Convention is as prominent as the American Flag is on the “Obami’s” charter jet as no where in sight!

Obama – The Jihad Connection

That title sounds radical doesn’t it. I’ve always thought that Obama’s Marxism was more of threat than his Muslim upbringing. Looks like the two go hand in hand.

Debbie at Right Truth has an interesting roundup of stories on Obama’s Jihadi connections.

BTW – have you heard about the pop-Mosque in Denver? How about Barack’s sponsor for getting into Harvard? Remember that Iranian connection for Obami’s partner Joe? Debbie has more connections.

Lt. Col. Nathan Blood
Lt. Col. Nathan Blood
U.S. Army

Lt. Col. Nathan Blood, brigade effects coordinator for 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division – Baghdad, says “Hello” to his 16-month-old daughter, Mackenzie, during a web camera communication.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday.

For that, I am proud to call them Hero.

Minnesota Election Story

This is cute. Got it from a friend of my parents in Minnesota.

The Presidential election was too close to call. Neither the Republican nor Democratic candidate had enough votes to win. There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a week-long ice fishing competition seemed the sportsmanlike way to settle things. The candidate that caught the most fish at the end of the week would win the election. Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice fishing contest to determine the winner.

After much of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest take place on a remote frozen lake in northern Minnesota . There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this isolated lake and return at 5 P.M. with their catch for counting and verification by a tea m of neutral parties. At the end of the first day, John McCain returned with 5 fish. Soon, Obama returned with no fish. Everyone assumed he was just having another bad day and hopefully, he would catch up the next day.

At the end of the 2nd day John McCain came in with 8 fish and Obama came again with none. That evening, Harry Reid got together with Obama and said, ‘Barak, I think John McCain is a low-life, cheater, want you to go out tomorrow and don’t even bother with fishing. Spy on him and see just how he is cheating.’

The next night (after John McCain return with 12 fish),Reid said to Obama, ‘Ttell me, how is McCain cheating?’

Obama replied, ‘Harry, you’re not going to believe this, but he’s cutting holes in the ice.

DOES THAT SAY SOMETHING ABOUT EXPERIENCE ?

Pro Iran Biden – Supposedly the grownup on the Dhimmis ticket

Good grief but Biden is even more of a trainwreck than Obama. Hard to believe….

Biden’s Iran Problem Even More Troubling Than It First Appears

Following up on an Instapundit link to a Washington Post piece indicating Senator Joseph Biden’s soft-headed approach to Iran (read all of that) and an email tip I received two days ago reveals some additional extremely troubling pieces of information as regards Biden and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Just go read about Biden’s approach and politicking to Iran back to a month after Sept. 11th, 2001. And he’s the supposedly the best the Dhimmicrats have on foreign policy. Just friggin’ amazing!

Boot PA Rep John Murtha from office

Bill Russell who is running in Pennsylvania to boot John Murtha from office has a great ad.

We now know that Congressman Jack Murtha’s long public indictment of American Marines was factually wrong. Instead of “cold blooded killers,” court rulings reveal a dramatically different story of personal courage under fire. True heroism.

Lt. Col. Bill Russell’s grassroots campaign is setting the record straight. By standing up for fellow veterans, military personnel and average taxpayers, he’s taking on one of Washington’s most entrenched powerbrokers in what columnist Michelle Malkin calls a “David versus Goliath” contest.

A survivor of the September 11, 2001, attacks on the Pentagon, Bill’s campaign is a call to conservative reform and patriotic action. Won’t you join us?

Please consider an immediate donation of $100, $50 or $25 to help tell the whole truth to Pennsylvania voters.

Help Bill raise $200,000 by 9.11.08.
