Thunder6 of 365 WakeUp Signs off with an Inspirational Speech

It’s been a very long time since we’ve heard from milblogger Thunder6. In preparing a speech for a civics event he wrote about why he joined the Army, what the Army teaches you, deployments, the strength needed to pull yourself through these deployments and the loss of a close mentor and friend.

If you are not familiar with Danjel’s (Thunder6) war blogging, you’ve missed something very special.

Go, start at the beginning of 365 Wake Up.

Tn Representative Jim Cooper protected from computer crime?

Why would a Congressman be immune from committing a crime?

The Nashville Democrat was accused this week by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association of breaking the law when he used a password he said was given him to access a members-only association Web site and download documents.

Cooper showed and discussed the documents during a hearing on problems within the electric cooperative industry held by the House Government Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Thursday. The documents, he said, included legal advice given by the trade group to member utilities.

snip…..Stanley Brand, former legal counsel to the U.S. House, said the Constitution gives members of Congress broad immunity when conducting legislative business.

“I think he’s got a good case for immunity,” Brand said. The U.S. Justice Department’s Web site states that the protection provided to “legislative acts” by the Speech and Debate Clause provides members with “absolute immunity” from criminal and civil litigation.

Another law made by Congress to protect Congress! This is the same law that has protected legislators from drunk driving into barriers near the Capitol.

Is this the ethics of Jim Cooper?

Meet the Husseins

Meet: Clueless Hussein … Mindless Hussein … Hopeless Hussein … Taxless Hussein … Dickless Hussein …

From Pat Dollard we read about these Obamabots who take “Hussein” as their middle name on Facebook. Oooooo, now that is really stepping up to support their candidate. They are all so brave and committed. [/sarcasm off]

Senate Honors Soil (S.Res.440)

I suppose you think you read that wrong. You didn’t. The US Senate actually spent time on S.Res.440:

Title: A resolution recognizing soil as an essential natural resource, and soils professionals as playing a critical role in managing our Nation’s soil resources.

Sponsor: Sen. Sherrod Brown (D, OH)

Cosponsers:
Sen Conrad, Kent [D, ND] – 6/19/2008
Sen Feingold, Russell D. [D, WI] – 6/19/2008
Sen Grassley, Chuck [R, IA] – 6/19/2008
Sen Harkin, Tom [D, IA] – 6/19/2008
Sen Salazar, Ken [D, CO] – 6/19/2008
Sen Voinovich, George V. [R, OH] – 1/31/2008

6/23/2008 Passed/agreed to in Senate.

Isn’t it comforting to know that these mental midgets find the time for this kind of lunacy!

Obama: Riding Tall In The Straddle

I wish I had thought of this title.

IBD: Obama: Riding Tall In The Straddle

While campaigning in Pennsylvania earlier this year, Barack Obama was having breakfast with his Democratic Senate colleague Bob Casey. A reporter asked Obama about Jimmy Carter’s trip to see the terrorist group Hamas. Obama responded: “Why is it that, like, I can’t just eat my waffle?”

There’s going to be another waffle Obama’s going to eat as he tries to explain his simultaneous support for the District of Columbia gun ban he called constitutional and the Supreme Court decision in the Heller case that said it wasn’t. Obama has developed an almost Clintonesque ability to take both sides of an issue.

Red State also has a run down on Barack Hussein Obama’s past history on gun rights.

Don’t worry, you won’t ever get this kind of run down on Barack Hussein Obama from his adoring drive by media voting bloc. Course, most of these drive bys agree with Barack’s true beliefs on gun rights which is that citizens should have no right to bear arms.

Blue Birds

I have this decorative mailbox on my front porch, the blue birds really like it for their nest. In fact, the wrens like it too. This nest included 4 blue eggs and 1 white spotted egg. When I saw the spotted egg I thought hmmmm, that’s odd. Then I asked a friend who stopped by and was told that was a wren’s egg. How this happened, don’t know. But I’m watching the babies since they just hatched in the last couple days.

If you look closely you can see the little beak sticking up in the air looking for food.

Does Monty mean we (the US/US Military) are cruel?

Kent Greenough is running against Monty Lankford in the Tn 4th Congressional District Republican Primary. Kent is a Marine Veteran as is his wife and his daughter is a Naval Veteran. Monty is not a Veteran so maybe these words he has on his website issues page don’t mean anything to him. But I’m guessing there are quite a few Veterans in the 4th District who might take umbrage since the implication from his words is that the US Military is in someway being cruel.

Words Matter!

Monty on Security:

The number one job of the government is protecting our people. That means a stronger military with the ability to project force overseas. It means tighter homeland security and it means taking the war on terror to the terrorists. It means regaining control of our borders. With the right direction, we can be correct without being cruel

This is more political correctness crap which has taken over the Republican Party.

Kent has been endorsed by the Veterans for Freedom:

Washington, DC – Vets for Freedom is proud to announce its support of Kent Greenough for United States Congress in the 4th District of Tennessee. After a lifetime of public service including a 6 year career as a United States Marine, Kent and his entire family symbolize the American spirit based on duty to country.
His father served 26 years in the Marine Corps, his wife of 37 years is a former Marine Officer, and their daughter is a graduate of the US Naval Academy. Vets for Freedom applauds Kent’s commitment to continue his public service in the United States Congress.

“As a fellow veteran who has proudly served my country in the United States Army, I am humbled to speak on behalf of Vets for Freedom in offering our strong endorsement of Kent Greenough for United States Congress,” said Vets for Freedom Chairman, Pete Hegseth. “Kent understands that the fight we are currently undertaking in Iraq is essential to our success in the global fight against Islamic extremism. He recognizes and acknowledges the success of our current military strategy implemented by General Petraeus, and has been a steadfast source of support of all the men and women who are winning the Global War on Terror. Our country needs more dedicated people like Kent in Washington.”

Hegseth continued, “As the brave men and women who wear our nation’s uniform continue to serve in harm’s way, it is important that politics end at the water’s edge, and that we have elected officials in Washington who understand and appreciate the sacrifices they make and why they make them. Kent Greenough is a true American patriot, and I am proud to offer the support of Vets for Freedom.”

Kent needs your help with donations. Monty Lankford is a millionaire who has hired campaign help from Washington D.C. I guess since Monty doesn’t reside in the 4th District it isn’t surprising he would go outside of Tennessee for campaign help. Kent is running a true grass roots campaign with only you and other 4th District residents for support.
