Shooting the Barrett

Tomorrow is the second annual Linda Shultz Charity Shoot and Barrett’s Ball. One of the highlights, for me, is to shoot the Barrett .416 Rifle which is built on the M99 platform. The .416 was recently featured on The Discovery Channel’s Futureweapons, accurately shooting a cold bore shot at a target a mile and a half away.

Shooting the Barrett really was the thrill of the event for me last year.

But the event is much more than shooting the Barrett .416. Linda Shultz has become a dear and valued friend. She is someone whose courage and perseverance in her fight against cancer are truly inspirational. The Williamson Herald recently did a story on Linda and her fight against cancer.

Linda Shultz knows full well what cancer can do to a personadn a family. She has been fighting the disease since January 2005. One the weapons she uses her fight is the second annual Linda Shultz Charity Shoot on May 31. The money the shoot raises stays in the community where it goes towards local cancer research and the American Cancer Society’s Middle Tennessee chapter, which helps families who are dealing with cancer. For more information on the shoot, call 615-341-7323 or visit https://main.acsevents.org/nashvillecharityshoot.

It’s too late to sign up for the shooting competition but it’s not too late to come out and shoot the Barrett .416 or you could also shoot the Smith and Wesson 500. Bring money, it is a charity event after all. Shooting these babies won’t be free!

You could also join us for the Baron’s Ball which is being held at Ronnie Barrett’s home in Murfreesboro on Saturday night. It’s western attire and I’m told Ronnie Barrett has some interesting collections. There’s going to be a silent auction with some great items on the block.

Obama’s Speech on Disarming America and Defunding the Military

This is a video Obama made for some left wing group he was seeking an endorsement from in 2007. I heard it on Rush’s show today. There is so much wrong with this man it absolutely boggles my mind that anyone could possibly support him. This guy is a trainwreck.

One other thing Rush just mentioned was that the GOP had obtained a video of Michelle Obama speaking from the pulpit of Trinity Church of Christ. Apparently she was ranting about “whitey”. Unfortunately it’s an all too believable scenario. Should be interesting to see if that materializes.

Update June 3rd – That left wing group is called “The New Party” of which one member element is ACORN. Redstate has a great story on the history of this marxist group along with Obama’s history with the group.

With districts redrawn, ingratiating himself to black politicians on his side of the city, and rules loosened on voter registration, Obama could set out to run. And he did. Obama sought the New Party endorsement, which required him to sign a contract that he would keep up his relationship with the New Party.

The end of the story is simple. Obama won the New Party’s nomination and, through fusion with his Democratic votes, he became the Democratic nominee. Using ACORN’s get out the vote efforts and relying on his gerrymandered Democrat district, Obama moved on to the State Senate. While there, he paid back the New Party and the far left. He opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, he opposed legislation that would have prohibited the sale of pornography across the street from elementary schools and churches, and he supported allowing criminals to sue their victims if their victims injured the criminals in self-defense.

Fast forward twelve years and Obama is running as fast as he can away from the New Party brand. But beyond a shadow of a doubt, Barack Obama knew what he was getting into and remains an ideal New Party candidate. The New Party was, and as it still exists is, an amalgamation of the left and far left designed to attract far left candidates and move the Democratic Party back to the left. Barack Obama is an example of the New Party’s success.

Peak Oil

IBD – Peak Oil: An Idea Whose Time Is Up

U.S. production is trending down again, but it’s not because there’s no oil. It’s due to shortsighted policies that prevent the industry from drilling for the almost 100 billion barrels of crude known to be under Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and beneath the oceans just off of America’s coasts. It’s because politics and political correctness block the development of Big Sky state oil shale fields, where as much as 2 trillion barrels of crude, by some estimates, sit idle.

It’s possible that rather than falling for the peak oil theory, investors simply are considering the reality that Congress has done nothing to increase crude output, and that continuing on that foolish path will indeed bring shortages.

Blackout on commercial airline missile incident

Anybody heard anything about this? Where is the professional drive-by media?

Northeast Intelligence Network

Feds mum on “missile” incident involving passenger airline

Passengers advised not to talk about incident

27 May 2008: Shortly after takeoff yesterday morning, the pilot of Continental Flight 1544 reported seeing a rapidly moving object with a thick smoke trail closing in on his aircraft and shooting past his cockpit window. According to some of the crew and passengers aboard Flight 1544 traveling from Houston to Cleveland, it appeared like some type of missile was headed toward the aircraft. The plane was at an altitude of 5,000 feet and 11 miles east of Bush Intercontinental Airport when the pilot radioed the control tower to report the sighting. The object was described as “missile-like with a thick contrail,” and traveling at a high rate of speed.

As currently being reported by various media outlets, the FAA is suggesting that the object seen by some of the 148 passengers and six crew members was a model rocket. This explanation, however, falls short in many areas.

One passenger who was aboard the plane and saw the object told Northeast Intelligence Network director Doug Hagmann early today that “it was definitely no model rocket.” This passenger, who contacted the Northeast Intelligence Network after seeing news reports about the “near-hit,” stated that she was interviewed by an agent of the FBI in Cleveland yesterday. She declined to provide her name as the agent advised her “not to talk publicly about [this incident] as it is under investigation.”

“I just want you to know that the news reports are not accurate. That’s not what I saw,” stated this witness.

Flashback…

It was on November 26, 2005 when the pilot of American Airlines Flight 612 reported a “near-hit from what was described as a rocket as the aircraft was traveling over the Santa Monica Bay at approximately 5,000 feet. Although the incident received scant media attention, the Northeast Intelligence Network provided an extensive investigative report on the incident, complete with audio from the pilot and control tower, at this link.

Additional details on this latest incident will be provided as they are developed.

You know what they call a man with big ears and big feet

A CLOWN

Barack Hussein Obama has become a clown with his “gaffes” and lies. He’s verging on becoming Clintonian with his bald faced lies. His gaffes have yet to gain any traction with his adored media elite. Simply stunning.

Aside from his “seeing dead people”, he has fabricated military service stories for both his uncle and his father. It’s still questionable if he even has an uncle on his Mother’s side of the family. If it’s his Father’s side of the family, that alone would be interesting to see how a Kenyan had served in the US Armed Forces during WWII.

In trying to pander to Jewish voters Barack is trying to shed his anti-Israel skin (he might want to shed his Jew hating staffers) Back in 2002 BHO told of his Grandfather’s military service stories during WWII. Unfortunately, the stories told of US troops first entering Auschwitz and Treblinka – didn’t happen.

Now, BHO is telling about an uncle who was a part of the bridgade entering Auschwitz. Regardless of whether said uncle actually exists, Auschwitz was liberated by the Russians.

Michelle Malkin is keeping a running list of Obama Gaffes.

Tip to Obama’s staff, you might want to educate yourselves and Obama on the meaning of American holidays especially those honoring our military. Memorial Day is to remember those who gave their life in the service of their country.

TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER

Interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Sentinels of the Third United States Infantry Regiment “Old Guard”

Q: How many steps does the guard take during his walk across the tomb of the Unknowns and why?

A: 21 steps. It alludes to the twenty-one gun salute, which is the highest honor given any military or foreign dignitary.

Q: How long does he hesitate after his about face to begin his return walk and why?

A: 21 seconds, for the same reason as answer number 1.

Q: Why are his gloves wet?

A: His gloves are moistened to prevent his losing his grip on the rifle.

Q: Does he carry his rifle on the same shoulder all the time, and if not, why not?

A: No, he carries the rifle on the shoulder away from the tomb. After his march across the path, he executes an about face and moves the rifle to the outside shoulder.

Q: How often are the guards changed?

A: Guards are changed every thirty minutes, twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year.

Q: What are the physical traits of the guard limited to?

A: For a person to apply for guard duty at the tomb, he must be between 5′ 10″ and 6′ 2″ tall and his waist size cannot exceed 30″.

Other requirements of the Guard:

They must commit 2 years of life to guard the tomb, live in a barracks under the tomb, and cannot drink any alcohol on or off duty FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. They cannot swear in public FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES and cannot disgrace the uniform {fighting} or the tomb in any way.

After TWO YEARS, the guard is given a wreath pin that is worn on their lapel signifying they served as guard of the tomb. There are only 400 presently worn. The guard must obey these rules for the rest of their lives or give up the wreath pin.

The shoes are specially made with very thick soles to keep the heat and cold from their feet. There are metal heel plates that extend to the top of the shoe in order to make the loud click as they come to a halt. There are no wrinkles, folds or lint on the uniform. Guards dress for duty in front of a full-length mirror.

The first SIX MONTHS of duty a guard cannot talk to anyone, nor watch TV. All off duty time is spent studying the 175 notable people laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. A guard must memorize who they are and where they are interred. Among the notables are: President Taft, Joe E. Lewis {the boxer} and Medal of Honor winner Audie Murphy, {the most decorated soldier of WWII} of Hollywood fame. Every guard spends FIVE HOURS A DAY getting his uniforms ready for guard duty.

The Sentinels Creed:

My dedication to this sacred duty is total and wholehearted. In the responsibility bestowed on me never will I falter. And with dignity and perseverance my standard will remain perfection. Through the years of diligence and praise and the discomfort of the elements, I will walk my tour in humble reverence to the best of my ability. It is he who commands the respect I protect. His bravery that made us so proud. Surrounded by well meaning crowds by day alone in the thoughtful peace of night, this soldier will in honored glory rest under my eternal vigilance.

More Interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknowns itself:

The marble for the Tomb of the Unknowns was furnished by the Vermont Marble Company of Danby, Vt. The marble is the finest and whitest of American marble, quarried from the Yule Marble Quarry located near Marble, Colorado and is called Yule Marble. The Marble for the Lincoln memorial and other famous buildings was also quarried there.

The Tomb consists of seven pieces of rectangular marble: Four pieces in sub base; weight Â- 15 tons;

One piece in base or plinth; weight Â- 16 tons;

One piece in die; weight Â- 36 tons;

One piece in cap; weight Â- 12 tons;

Carved on the East side (the front of the Tomb, which faces Washington, D.C.) is a composite of three figures, commemorative of the spirit of the Allies of World War I.

In the center of the panel stands Victory (female).

On the right side, a male figure symbolizes Valor.

On the left side stands Peace, with her palm branch to reward the devotion and sacrifice that went with courage to make the cause of righteousness triumphant.

The north and south sides are divided into three panels by Doric pilasters. In each panel is an inverted wreath.

On the west, or rear, panel (facing the Amphitheater) is inscribed:

HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER KNOWN BUT TO GOD

Never Forget the sacrifices made for our freedoms we enjoy today!
