What a Dick!
Apparently Dick Cavett thinks that General David Petraeus’ use of “long” words is a turgid vocabulary.
Petraeus commits a different assault on the listener. And on the language. In addition to his own pedantic delivery, there is his turgid vocabulary. It reminds you of Copspeak, a language spoken nowhere on earth except by cops and firemen when talking to “Eyewitness News.” Its rule: never use a short word where a longer one will do. It must be meant to convey some misguided sense of “learnedness” and “scholasticism” — possibly even that dread thing, “intellectualism” — to their talk. Sorry, I mean their “articulation.”
We all know libruls don’t think those in the military or law enforcement or firefighting have an intellectual capacity. But before Dick mocks General Petraeus’ use of words he might want to educate himself. General Petraeus has a PHD from Princeton in International Relations.
Such a typical librul response to someone who is leaves said librul in the dust on every front. And those military medals? Heck, according to that protector of America, they’re just shiny objects.

Can we say intellectual, elitist bullcrap and undoubtedly, envy? How petty can one get? This type of comment tells more about the speaker than the object of his or her derision.
