Covert Global Tax does more than tax - gun ban, Kyoto Protocol, Criminal Court…… (S.2433)

From a commenter on my last posting on the Global Poverty Act , I found out there’s even more tucked into the UN Millenium Project besides a stealth tax which is a global tax to be collected and maintained by the United Nations Useless Nitwits.

From Cliff Kincaid at AIM:

This is how the Washington game of spending more of your money works. This is a budget buster that siphons your hard-earned tax dollars to the U.N. and the rest of the world.

In addition to seeking to eradicate poverty, that Millennium Declaration commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons” and ratifying a series of treaties, including the International Criminal Court Treaty, the Kyoto Protocol (global warming treaty), the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Passage of the Global Poverty Act would not, of course, result in those treaties being ratified. But it does increase the domestic and international pressure to do so. And that is another inherent danger of the Global Poverty Act.

The Millennium Declaration also affirms the U.N. as “the indispensable common house of the entire human family, through which we will seek to realize our universal aspirations for peace, cooperation and development.”

Y’all calling your Senators now? But you know they won’t be back in session until next week. They needed a 10 day break for that one day holiday called Presidents Day.

  3. Sorry, but you’re quoting a propagandist (Cliff Kincaid) who hopes you won’t actually read 55/2. United Nations Millennium Declaration. It doesn’t have **the force of law** here or anywhere else, but it has been agreed to in principle by member nations (including us of course) in 2000 as a kind of ’suggested guideline’. That’s obvious because we’ve already blown off Kyoto and haven’t spent nearly .7% of our GDP to achieve those goals. Please google it and read.

Kincaid is really stretching the “banning small arms and light weapons” in order to appeal to guys like me. The Declaration actually reads:

“To take concerted action to end illicit traffic in small arms and light weapons, especially by making arms transfers more transparent and supporting regional disarmament measures,”

It has nothing to do with legal, personal gun ownership in the US or anywhere else. It’s about *illicit* traffic in weaponry to the cesspools of the world where there is a high probably that they’ll be turned against our military. BTW, Mr Kincaid, is a “chairborne ranger” and I believe he has never served a day.

  4. Toni,

Tend to agree with the commenter above. When I read the UN Millennium Declaration I didn’t see anything about anything but illicit gun trade and WMD. However, it does say it will implement the provisions of the United Nations Conference on Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons. It too, seems on the surface to target illicit guns sales. I didn’t have the patience to wade through all the documents from 2001 thru 2006, but would no be surprised to discover the UN is recommending all guns be made “illicit.”

  5. Mike G is correct; it is hard to find anything about outlawing anything other than “illicit” gun trade. Now I’m the last to defend the UN on ANYTHING, and have a long history of castigating them, but here’s a link to their “setting the record straight” piece on the issue:

    http://disarmament2.un.org/cab/smallarms/facts.htm

However, Mike, I’ll take issue with the “Chairborne Ranger” comment. The fact that someone doesn’t serve in the military does not exclude them from commenting on gun rights or military matters. It’s a chickenshit way to make an argument. Otherwise, I agree with you.
