Barack the Bargainer
Peter Robinson at National Review is doing a 5 part interview with Shelby Steele on his new book “A Bound Man: Why We Are Excited About Obama and Why He Can’t Win”.
The Five parts are available at National Review:
Shelby Steele is calling Barack “The Bargainer” which means he won’t use guilt about America’s past regarding slavery and Blacks if you (Whites) won’t make an issue about race. Shelby says that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are not “Bargainers” which is why their attempts in the presidential run were unsuccessful. Another success story of a “Bargainer” is Oprah Winfrey, Shelby listed a few others too.
But according to Shelby, the paradox for Barack? Barack is saying that his candidacy transcends race but the paradox is that his candidacy is all about race.
Snip from the intro to the video at National Review:
Shelby Steele talks about the “one-drop rule” and how it has defined Barack Obama’s candidacy as an African American running for president. He continues on to describe how the color of his skin has defined him, not the content of his character — how he isn’t running as an individual with his own beliefs. And while he may write like a novelist and speak beautifully, he doesn’t have a voice of his own.
Personally, I love to listen to Shelby Steele talk, he is an amazing person. Don’t miss these interviews that are a part of Peter Robinson’s Uncommon Knowledge videos.

What a load of horse puckey. Shelby Steele neither knows Barack Obama or has a degree in psychology, so insights into Mr Obama’s character are highly suspect. His church is intellectually below him…puh-lease how many of you have chosen a church based on how well it suits your intellect.
As far as I can tell, Mr. Steele’s main dig is that BHO can’t be pigeonholed or labelled.
Big whoop. Try reading BHO’s books…he’s written two.
