Follow Up to Cpl Mason – Digital Sign now in front of Rite Aid Store

UPDATE – Tuesday evening: Since I was out this evening, dependable Sherri kept on the story.

“Strength and Honor”

Cpl Chris Mason’s dad – Garland Mason (USMC / US Paratrooper retired)
————————————————————-

Rite Aid has agreed to a donation of $10,000.00 dollars to the “Wounded Warriors Foundation in the name of Cpl. Christopher Edward Mason…. They are issuing letters of apology to Chris’ mother, I (his Father), and his brother who is still serving in Iraq….. The Human Resources Manager that spoke the hateful comment about Chris’s death is now receiving the maximum disciplinary action allowed under Rite Aid’s guidelines.

Personally, I’d rather see the manager fired but if this satisfies the Masons then we have a success story here. It wasn’t until Mr. Mason went online with this story that Rite Aid started to listen. I still think the company sux but it’s good to know that the military supporters out there can make a difference!

My blogfriend Sherri sent me this and it’s pretty darn cool! This is a follow up to my posting – What Rite Aid thinks of our Fallen Hero’s – “That’s no different than someone’s house burning downâ€?!

Digital Billboard placed in view of Rite Aid store, hooah!

Lamar Sign Company has posted a digital billboard out in front of the Rite Aid where Chris’ mother was working; here are the images that are being displaced at no charge to us… Thank you Lamar Sign Company, maybe you guys can teach Rite Aid what true concern for Fallen Warriors is all about, you are all true Patriots:

Rite Aid has contacted us, they say they plan to respond soon…..

I am asking everyone on MySpace… and if possible on all the other networking communities, to light a candle in support of our Fallen Soldiers, and their families.

By lighting a candle and placing it as your profile photo you are letting the Warriors of Freedom who stand on the Battlefield, so we may sleep without fear of terrorism, know that if they fall their families will not stand alone.

We should all stand up and show Corporate America we stand for something that’s greater than ourselves, as Chris believed the flag of this great nation does. (ref: Chris’s MySpace page).

MySpace let us all show the world we stand with our men and women who pay in blood for our freedom.

If you do not have one or need one quickly you are welcome to use Chris’ candle

but please place a candle of some type as your profile photo as soon as possible. Any candle will do. I am asking everyone to burn the candle until this issue with Rite Aid concerning the statement that compared losing a son or daughter in The War on Terrorism “is no different than someone’s house burning down”….. is resolved. And with all the pressue you folks are putting on them you can bet it will be soon.

For the record it’s a H/T to Cathy, who sent it to me. It’s great that we can all help each other by sending updates! Thank you so much for including me in your emails :)

  • Update on Cpl Christopher Mason News

I wrote just a little bit ago about how Rite Aid had treated the mother of a fallen hero, Cpl. Christopher Mason. Since I wrote that post, I found more at Bear Creek Ledger.
It seems that Lamar Sign Company has given the Masons the use of d…

They definitely should have canned the SFB! But I guess a paltry 10 grand is ok.

  • randy says:

the war on terror is a lot like a house burning down, especially from the civilian iraqis point of view when, in fact, their house burns down, or they watch their family get killed by our soldiers.

war on terror? our soldiers are dying for our greed and stupidity. our country has spent god only knows how many HUNDREDS of billions of dollars and thousands of lives, and for what? so that thousands of middle eastern people can develop a burning hatred for america when they didnt have one before? nothing like sending our brave men and women into a hornets nest so that the next generation can deal with an iraq that actually will be plotting against us.

rite aid should of offered 10,000 to hire a real patriot and speak out against the slaughter of our troops occuring under lies from our crooked government at the nearest recruiting office. why should any parents ever have to deal with losing a child in a war that shouldnt be going on?

  • Toni says:

Randy – it’s too bad that you are so delusional and ignorant. Is this how you spend your time, going around to bash our troops and spread propaganda? Your parents must be so proud.

  • randy says:

i salute every troop i see toni. they are dying for basically no reason, tricked to believe this is the war on terror. what did iraq ever do that was a threat to US security, not oil suppy? nothing. we ever find those WMD after spending more money then anyone could even imagine? hey, what about osama bin laden? toni, what do you think will happen when the next president pulls our troops of out iraq that never should of been there in the first place? do you think that the citizens of iraq might just start going along with actual terrorists and join their cause and not democracy? hows that iraq govnt we placed doing, are they ready to take control or do they need another five years and a few thousand more american lives, another trillion dollars? lets give the middle east further impression that we cant fight or win a war, and that we can be defeated, great, you think it was bad before?

the problem with iraq is we didnt speak the language of war going in..we are too polite even in war..iraq has been a battlefield and a very difficult country to control for what, 1500 years? we should of blasted the country with nukes until they surrended, then sent in 1/10th the amount of troops to take control..we did it to japan, but hey, that was a war that the majority of americans supported. instead, we just keep sending our troops to be killed, spending like money is nothing, and showing the middle east that its ok to hate us and plot against us.

if it was the other way around, if iraq had 400 times the resources, weapons, and troops, and nukes, if they attacked america, they wouldnt waste years and thousands of their lives getting the job done..thank god we didnt invade a country that could actually defend itself. instead we send our troops to do the dying while the constitution slowly gets rewritten to “protect” ourselves, and people like you write poorly researched articles about rite aid and billboards and blah blah blah, just for the shock affect, dont hold your breath for the pulizter, lets not write about what iraq is really about, huh? lets not write about what our troops are dying for, and what they are not dying for. our country has started a war, are we ever going to finish it toni? or will our troops of died for nothing?

my parents are proud of me actually. they too are enlightned enough to know that iraq is a mess we never should of created, or at least should of let the nukes do the talking, NOT our troops.

we lost what, 8 troops in the first gulf war?

how many have we lost in this one?

  • Toni says:

Randy, I’m sure the soldier’s really appreciate your view they are dying for no reason. That their mission is to kill innocent Iraqi’s. Your support is indeed impressive. [sarcasm off]
