Energy – thank your Congressweasels
Yep, the Dims with some help from Republicrats are trying to kill the economy. An energy policy that does nothing but pander to big agribusiness.
A Low-Carbon Diet From Fossil Fools
Energy Policy: The House and Senate have put a lot of energy into legislation that develops no new energy. The only thing it’ll produce is higher prices for everything we eat and make.A bill calling for mandatory U.S. limits on so-called greenhouse gases passed 11-8 in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee last Wednesday. It calls for a 70% cut in carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions from electric power plants, manufacturing and transportation by 2050. But the main thing it will cut is U.S. economic growth.
Last Thursday the House passed a similar bill, 235-181. Its centerpiece is a 40% increase in fuel economy standards to an auto-industry average of 35 miles per gallon by 2020. It would also roll back $13.5 billion in oil company incentives to produce more oil and use that money on developing alternative sources of energy.
“We will send our energy dollars to the Midwest, not the Middle East,” harrumphed Speaker Nancy Pelosi, referring to House ’s proposed sevenfold increase in the use of ethanol made from corn and the development of cellulosic ethanol from wood chips and grasses.
No mention, however, of sending our tax dollars to, say, Alaska for the billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas that can be recovered there.
In fact, for all the net new energy the bill will produce, it might be better just to burn the money in, say, an oil drum.

Aren’t the Dems the ones always decrying evil corporations? And aren’t they the ones that are supposed to be for the little guy and small businesses?
So much for “the Common Good”..
