SCHIP for the Children? Really?

There is not only a problem with the recently passed SCHIP bill which President Bush vetoed but there is a problem with the EXISTING SCHIP program. What a shocker huh? Turns out there’s an awful lot of adults on the program “for the children”!

From KJL at The Corner:

Democrats’ Children’s Health Bill Covers Adults through FY 2012

Why are Democrats pushing adults to be covered under SCHIP when we haven’t even covered all eligible children? There are over 500,000 poor children eligible for SCHIP who are not covered. President Bush wants to make sure these eligible children are covered first, while Democrats support continuing SCHIP coverage to adults.

There’s a chart that shows that 6 states that currently spend over 50% of there SCHIP expenditures on ADULTS.

Minnesota - 77% spent on Adults
Michigan - 71%….
New Mexico - 64%….
Illinois - 57%….
Rhode Island - 53%….
New Jersey - 52%…

So, where is the oversight on this program? Why are these states being reimbursed for this program when the funds are for adults? And they want to expand the program? What a farce and hoax.

And both of Tennessee’s Republican senators (Lamar Alexander & Bob Corker) voted for this pathetic ruse for socialized healthcare.

  1. This program essentially the second of the three pronged liberal attack on the health care system of America. If the SCHIP veto is overridden, then only the 18-61 age group remains without federally directed healthcare.
