Ghost Whisperer Sees The Light
I had received an email last week telling me about last Friday’s episode of Ghost Whisperer which centered around a soldier who came home from Iraq without the rest of his squad. I have to admit I was very skeptical and expected to see some sort of trashing of our troops whether subtle or overt. I was wrong. I watched the episode which initially looked to be about a National Guard soldier with PTSD going nuts. I thought okay, here we go. Every soldier that comes home has PTSD with all the depictions that go along with that label.
But that wasn’t the case and you had to watch into the last half hour to find out this wasn’t the depiction. It was a good episode and showed our troops in an honorable and courageous light. I’ve watched GW before and always have marveled at the costumes worn by Jennifer Love Hewitt, they’re different you could say. With all the crap on network tv I have to say that GW at least is a family friendly show to watch and entertaining.

In this special episode of GHOST WHISPERER, “Haunted Hero, the show pays tribute to the brave men and women serving our country in Iraq. The story begins with a U.S. soldier and Iraqi war veteran who recently returned from combat with a medal in hand only to later be accused of deserting his platoon. The soldier is continuously haunted with nightmares reminding him of his time at war, specifically that night he lost his men, and it’s up to Melinda (Jennifer Love Hewitt) to find out the truth. This episode blends fiction with a dose of reality as real-life U.S. Soldier Veterans participated in this historic episode.
Update: Here’s a promo video from the show. I didn’t know that the actor who played the returned National Guard soldier is in fact an Iraqi Veteran and there are extras that are Iraqi war veterans. Watch the video.

I’m glad you watched it…and that you were impressed enough to post about it. This is the point of my post on being called out…that we should take every opportunity to support those in out charge even when the support comes from an unexpected corner.
Thank you for doing what I could not.
