SGT Eddie Jeffers – Someone You Should Know
Gazing at The Flag had the job of informing us that we have lost a very talented writer and dedicated soldier – Sgt Eddie Jeffers. Sgt. Jeffers was killed in Iraq on Wednesday, Sept. 19th in a vehicle rollover accident.

My condolences go out to Eddie’s family. We (America) have lost a great American. If you don’t understand why I can say that then you might want to read one of Eddie’s letters.
If you go to Flag Gazer’s link, express your condolences in the comments, the Jeffer’s family will receive your regrets.

I was moved by Sgt Eddie Jeffers writings. I have corresponded with his Dad. When I got the news late last night, I wrote the following poem as a tribute to Eddie. Enjoy, Cliff
Eddie Rides With Jesus
In a dangerous, deadly, hostile land,
Rode a brave and courageous man.
He fought evil and despair,
Around every corner, everywhere.
He had ideals, dreams and goals,
Keeping his men alive and whole.
Sgt. Eddie loved his brave men,
And fought to get them home again.
He wrote from his heart so deep,
From his pain and made us weep,
For the truth he penned cut like a knife,
To the heart and soul of American life.
We suffer not as our soldiers die,
We go on our way and pass by,
The crippled veteran, the sad bride,
Whose husband bled and died.
Our soldiers give their blood, their life,
In an effort to end the horrible strife,
Should not we support and care for them,
As they fight to protect us from harm?
Let us change! Start something new!
Show our troops we love them too!!
Let’s get off our duffs, get busy now,
And show them we know when and how!
Send them cards, cookies and cheer,
Do it from our hearts and sincere.
Love them and let them know we care,
In every way, and all through the year!!
Sgt. Eddie has not died in vain,
His cause is ours, we will remain,
Faithful to the dreams he held so dear,
Freedom, freedom both far and near.
Sgt. Eddie has left the scene,
He rests with Jesus, so serene,
His duty done, in a distant land,
His hope has reached a peaceful end.
Eddie’s hope no longer rides alone,
He rides with Jesus, no more groans,
His head held high, feeling joy unbounded,
Through streets of gold with angels surrounded.
We miss you Eddie, wish you were here,
But we know God has called you up there.
Rest well Eddie, your mission is completed,
God’s love for you will never be depleted.
Father in Heaven, Please hold Eddie close to your heart,
Comfort him for us, even though we are apart.
Thanks for the years he lived with us too,
May his life bring great glory and honor to you.
We ask this in the Powerful Name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and by his shed blood, in the Power of the Holy Spirit, Amen and Amen

Now this is interesting … the Senate voted on whether or not to support General Petraeus, our commanding general in Iraq during a time of war, they had to actually take a vote on whether or not to support him. They voted to support hi…

Their dedication and sacrifice is appreciated and we honor them. We appreciate, too, Eddie’s writings that we have had the priviledge to read. Thank you.

To the family of SGT Eddie Jeffers.
Rest easy that your son has given his last full measure of devotion to his Country. I am a Special Forces officer who is a veteran of Vietnam and can truly tell you that he is now with the “rest of the best” that made the supreme sacrifice so that others can enjoy the Freedoms that some take for granted. As we veteran often say, “Freedom is Not Free,” it has a price, and while “some gave some, others gave all.”
Throughout the history of our country, men and women have stepped forward to the Country’s call. Call it patriotism or call it paying your dues for living in this great country. It is a true shame that that there are those who will always take low road and whine, but the good news is that there are more of us that realize the consequences of not winning these wars. Our Special Forces motto is “De Oppresso Liber” (Free from Oppression), and it means just what it says.
Sincerely, W.F. Emerson. CPT, CE, USSF (ret)
As I sit and read the writings of Sgt.Eddie Jeffers, it saddens me to know that I have not done anything to help our troops. My sister-in-law sent his letter to me. You see, my niece, and two nephews of my deceassed brother (who died of cancer), her children, that she raised alone for the last 15 years, which all are now grown. They have served in the military and are still serving, in the ARmy National Guard. My niece is a Sgt. now and One of my nephews is a Sgt, too. The other nephew is in school @ West Point. I take off my hat to them for all their hard work and dedication to our Country and to all others that have suffered and sacrificed. They have been to Iraq and Afghanistan, in harms way. I have taken this great priviledge of freedom for granted. I really have not stopped long enough to count the cost others have made for me and yes I say for me, because it comes down to each of us as individuals that they have fought and died for us, you and me. How do you tell the family members that you are so terribly sorry for their lost, because I have not had to experience that in my life, I have only one son and he has not gone to the military. He has been home by us for the last 25 years of his life. I don’t know what it’s like to agonize over not knowing where my son is or is he in harms way. I’ve had the priviledge of being able to see him and he is always a phone call away. Our two daughters, his sisters live right by us, too. We all sleep @ night knowing that we are safe in the arms of our God, but also safe in the arms of our military. If it weren’t for them, we would not be able to live the way we do, with the freedom we have, I apologize for taking that for granted and I do hope that somehow I can make a differences in someone elses life, like our military has done for us. Thanks to all and may God Bless Everyone and their families for the sacrifices y’all have made.
Sincerely and in HIM,
Catherine Salario
PRAISE GOD FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL YOUNG MAN AND HE IS SO RIGHT. HIS PARENTS I KNOW ARE SO PROUD OF HIM. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MOST OF THE AMERICIAN PEOPLE AND THE NEWS MEDIA THAT CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD. WHERE IS THE PRIDE THAT WE HAD IN WW11? I REMEMBER THE RATIONING AND THE SHORTAGES AND WE WERE PROUD TO DO THIS BECAUSE WE WERE PROUD OF WHO WE WERE AND WHAT WE WERE FIGHTING FOR. THIS WAR BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL IS THE SAME KIND OF WAR WE FOUGHT WITH HITLER WHO WAS EVIL AND KILLED THE JEWS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WE HAVE BECOME EVIL AND MOVED AWAY FROM OUR GOD WHO GAVE US THIS COUNTRY. WE ARE NOW CLOSE TO LOOSING IT BECAUSE WE HAVE NO PRIDE AND ARE NOT WILLING TO FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT AND GOOD. MOST AMERICIANS ARE TOTALLY UNAWARE OF THE REAL TRUTH AND WON’T TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN THE FACTS AND MAKE A DECISION BASED ON THE TRUTH. THEY JUST LISTEN TO THE LIES ON TV AND BLINDLY THINK WE ARE DOING GREAT.
MAY GOD BLESS US ALL
To all the men and women fighting for our country I thank you.
To the families who has lost a hero like Eddie I’m sorry.
For all the American people lets get it right so this war can come to end and this can stop
where everyone over there fighting can come home.
GOD BLESS THE USA
I could hardly finish reading Eddie’s letter because of the tears in my eyes. There is so much substance to his letter; there is so much that needs to be said and approval given in response to it, I am simply at a loss for words except those of my savior Jesus Christ when He said in John 15:13: “GREATER LOVE HAS NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT ONE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.”
I could hardly finish reading Eddie’s letter because of the tears in my eyes. There is so much substance in his letter; there is so much that can and should be said in response to it, but words are not adequate to do do justice to this brave soldier. I can only quote my Savior Jesus Christ when he said in John 15:13: “GREATER LOVE HAS NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT HE LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.”
