“Battle of Haditha” movie - isn’t this libel?

The makers of this POS propaganda “film” should be sued and the movie and all it’s entrails burned.

From Free Republic:

“Battle of Haditha” movie set for its world premiere in Toronto / Sept. 6-15

Nick Broomfield’s slanderous depiction of United States Marines killing civilians in cold-blood in Haditha on November 19, 2005 will receive its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Sept. 6-15, according to the Globe and Mail and a list of films posted by IndieWire.

Today’s Globe and Mail says about the festival: “Controversial British filmmaker Nick Broomfield is also likely to create a stir with The Battle for Haditha, a dramatic account of one of the blackest days of the Iraq war when U.S. Marines slaughtered 24 Iraqis, including women and children.”

Broomfield based his movie on wildly speculative stories in Time magazine and lies by Congressman John Murtha. The film brings Murtha’s slander to life by depicting stressed-out Marines going beserk and shooting unarmed and peaceable Iraqis.

Marine veterans who betrayed their brothers to appear in this film insist it is fiction. They point to the fact that no real names of Marines were used.

The film is being marketed, however, as a true story.

I’m assuming there could only be a lawsuit if this POS ever crosses the border in the U.S.A.  If you can stomach it here’s the link for the trailer.

  1. I play Capt. Sampson in the movie. No actually the movie is not being marketed as a true story. It states everywhere that it is a fictional story inspired by many events that have taken place throughout Bushes quagmire. However the facts are that those 3/1 Marines messed up and killed some innocent people. Every Marine will tell you that they screwed up it’s not being disloyal it’s admitting the truth. Now whether or not they should be punished I don’t think so because I think they lost their cool in the heat of the moment. Sometimes in war people make mistakes, there were a lot of extreme factors that played a key part in those Marines messing up and killing the wrong people. I don’t think they are bad people if they had done this in Falujah they would not have gotten in trouble because in Falujah it was a free kill zone with less strict ROE’S. The bottom line is that these Marines did what they thought they needed to do; now whether it was out of survival or retribution only a military courtmartial can decide. I do know their adrenaline was pumping and they were all probaly in shock after the IED went off and killed Lcpl Terrazas, and I do know atleast they had the balls to be out there in the firstplace. They probaly did hundreds of great things while they were on deployment that no one knows or cares about. This is why Marines should not be playing Iraqi Police and we should either use our bombs, put Special Forces in do their counter intel and counter terrorism work, or let Iraq run their own country. Maby if President Bush admitted he was an idiot for getting us into Iraq over retribution and oil we could go after Osama Bin Laden now that is retribution in our national interest not our presidents. What do I know I only spent a year and a half in Iraq as a Marine and as a Blackwater bodyguard. It seems all Replublicans are good for these days are getting caught in Gay scandals.
P.S Congressman Murtha has actually done things for our congress as a decorated Marine Vietnam War hero and as a distinguished congressman. He doesn’t just blogg tired rhetoric he stands up for what he believes in. You guys on these Conservative sites pretend to be patriots when in actualitry you are puppets for big business and a bunch of overprileged hypocritical cowards.
