Border Patrol agent shoots, kills, suspected human smuggler
EL PASO, Texas — A Border Patrol agent shot and killed a suspected smuggler at the fence that separates El Paso from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, authorities said Thursday.Jose Alejandro Ortiz Castillo, a 23-year-old man who had been caught crossing the border 28 times since 1999, died in Mexico shortly after the Wednesday night shooting, Border Patrol spokesman Doug Mosier said.
An unidentified Border Patrol agent spotted Ortiz apparently leading two men and a woman through a hole in the border fence just east of downtown El Paso. Ortiz, armed with bolt cutters, picked up a rock as the agent was arresting the woman, Mosier said.
The agent fired several shots, hitting Ortiz “multiple times,” Mosier said. It was the agent’s first fatal shooting.
Mexico DEMANDS an investigation! They are calling it homicide.
The Border Network for Human Rights says the Border Patrol is shooting first and asking questions later. I do believe that’s what happens when someone is threatening your life whether that threat is with a gun, knife, rock, machete or vehicle.

I have two conflicting thoughts on this…
1. Johnny Sutton wouldn’t dare prosecute this. He is already under so much scrutiny right now that another prosecution of a border patrol agent would just expose him further as a tool (take that any way you wish) of Bush’s footsie game with the Mexican Government.
2. Sutton has no choice but to prosecute this…if he prosecuted Ramos and Compean for shooting a drug dealer in the butt, why wouldn’t he go after an agent who shot dead an “immigrant” who wasn’t even bringing 700lbs of drugs into our country.
Johnny Sutton is a worm. I can’t wait to see how he responds to this.

THIS IS JUST ONE OPINION OF MANY BUT MOST PEOPLE ARE SAYING THE SAME THING.
Just so you know – We are relieved that we didn’t have to attend a funeral because that is exactly what would have gone down if the agent hadn’t reacted quickly to eleminate the threat. I’m sorry the Mexicans feel so outraged, but I don’t think that POS was worth us having to bury a family member. They are just going to have to get over it. And let me tell you – we are very proud of the agent. The outcome was right and justice was served. When you lay your head on the pillow tonight, take just a second to thank those that allow you to sleep with both eyes closed.
