Early this morning the Dorgan Amendment passed by a one vote margin.  This amendment ends the temporary worker program after 5 years.  This was the first upset for the pro-amnesty senate crowd. 

Who in Tennessee voted against this amendment?  Yep – Lamar Alexander! 
Who in Tennessee voted for this amendment?         Yep – Bob Corker!

Thank you Senator Corker.  Lamar – you are toast in my book.  Not that you weren’t already, it just put the final nail in your coffin.

There has been a slow and small erosion of support for S.1348, just enough to possibly stop this bill from passing.  Don’t stop with the calls to your Senators!!

I just heard that Lamar Alexander will be on Ralph Bristol’s radio program (Nashville FM 99.7) at 8:20 this morning and at approximately 8:30 on Steve Gill’s radio program (Nashville 1520AM ).

Update: According to Lamar Alexander (on Ralph Bristol’s radio program) the reason he voted against a sunset on the temporary/guest worker program (Y Visa program) would mean an increase or would encourage illegal aliens.  He also doesn’t believe this immigration bill constitutes amnesty for illegal aliens.  He will be voting against cloture or ending the debate today. 

Oh and according to Lamar the vote he had last night against the sunset was “the Conservative” vote.  So his vote with Ted Kennedy according to Lamar is the Conservative option.  I’m not really getting Lamar’s logic.  What am I missing?
