Sen. Corker on S.1348 today

Author: Sen. Bob Corker is on the Ralph Bristol talk radio program right now. He just stated that he would vote against this bill in it’s current form. He stated that any illegal alien currently in the country could come forth and get a Z visa with no intention of ever applying for a green card yet will be able to stay in the country indefinitely with no repercussions. He also has concerns regarding the operational enforcement of the bill. It’s one thing to say the bill includes strong enforcement measures but another to see if they are implemented and successful.
Sen. Corker called into Bristols program to request the interview. Corker reiterated his commitment to Tennesseans during his campaign to not support amnesty. Corker also said he’d met with the Administration to inform them of his concerns and stance on the bill.
Compared to Sen. Lamar Alexander’s interviews in the last couple days Corker’s interview was a breath of fresh air. Alexander danced around his stand and evaded any commitment. Alexander’s evasion pretty much said everything which is that Alexander is in favor of this amnesty and the only thing holding him back is that he’s running for re-election in 2008.

Illegal Aliens, (Ugh)
Senator Corker on S-1348, from Toni at Bear Creek Ledger Sen. Bob Corker is on the Ralph Bristol talk radio program right now. He just stated that he would vote against this bill in it’s current form. He stated that
Seal the Borders by adding 30,000 more Border Patrol Agents.
Put 20,000 more National Guard on the Border until the new Border Patrol Agents are trained.
Build the entire 780 Mile fence.
Install Virtual fence along entire borders.
Require TAMPER PROOF ID’s for everyone to be employed.
The Z-1 to Z-3 classifications should be applied.
The ID would EXPIRE x years after being issued and x would VARY based on Z Class, length of time in the US Illegally and other factors. (This would allow an orderly staggered return to their native countries)
Holders of the ID that expire would have to return to their native country and RE-APPLY for legal entry with a Work Permit or a VISA.
Once the ID’s have been issued (18 Months after the Law is passed) an Employer would be fined $50,000 for employing someone without the ID, Work Permit or Visa.The penalty would be $100,000 per employee for the second offense and 3 years jail time for the 3rd offense.
Persons that had previously entered the US Illegally would NOT get preferred legal entry back into the US.
Replacement WORKERS should come the World Wide Pool not just from countries that have large numbers of Illegal Immigrants in the US. ( Africa, Philippines, Indonesia, Iraq, Afghanistan, France, Norway, all have willing workers).
Re-entry would be based on our Work Place needs primarily based on skill levels and ability to assimilate.
Persons granted Visa’s can apply for Citizenship under the current law.
Do we really need a New 700 page Law?
