Not Voting 3
Alexander (R-TN), Yea
Corker (R-TN), NayKudos to Sen. Bob Corker for keeping his campaign promise to oppose thedestruction of embryos for any type of research.
Sen. Alexander, who is running for re-election, voted to use our tax dollars to destroy embryos forresearch.
From Sen. Alexander’s office: “he will vote for legislation that expands federal funding of research on stem cells derived from fertilized eggs that would otherwise be discarded at fertility clinics.”
Interestingly there’s the new report on success with ADULT stem cells…..
From Dayfydd at Big Lizards
In a breakthrough trial, 15 young patients with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes were given drugs to suppress their immune systems followed by transfusions of stem cells drawn from their own blood.
Rush was talking about this on his radio program yesterday. The interesting thing which Dayfydd also points out is Media’s reporting on this wonderful break through. You have to read to the end of almost every story that ADULT stem cells were used for the cell therapy.
Bobbie points out:
NOTE: There is no such thing as a “fertilized egg.” Once the sperm penetrates the egg and cell division begins, you have a new human organism – an embryo. Remember, ALL the advances and treatments that have been made with stem cells have come from ADULT stem cells. The score card is:
Adult stem cells — 70+
Embryonic stem cells — 0.

Beyond all of the moral and ethical issues, the pro-stem cell people have done an EXCELLENT job of deceiving the people on this. Any private lab can do anything it wants. These bills are about FEDERAL FUNDING of the research. But, I know people who think these bills are the only way to get stem cell research.
