How do the Left respond?

In my posting on How does the Left Support the Troops, one of the comments deserves some attention.  This is the face of the Left.  There actually were two comments and both blame Joshua Sparling for anything said to him.  For rude and crude behavior.  Joshua made these Lefties call him names, swear at him, call him a baby killer, spit at him.  Joshua shouldn’t have been there because as we all know, the 1st Amendment is only for those on the Left.  In the video I never saw Joshua get angry, behave rudely towards any of these dregs of humanity.

Re the protest:

You poor things. He’s whining about a protester who argued with him. Josh was standing under an effigy of Jane Fonda hanging by a noose with a sign on it that said, “Bitch” while he was chanting “Code Pink Kills”. It’s newsworthy that somebody argued with him?

Josh says the guy spat on him. I’d believe that if Josh had also told us about the retired Army Colonel and Code Pink speaker who, over the PA system, pointed him out in the crowd, identified him by name and thanked him for his service, despite HIS snarling and silly counter-protest.

What I saw was some whining “veteran” on Hannity and he sounded like a bitter little cripple who’s trying to justify his amputation. On another Fox segment, the little twit used an interview about the alleged spitting incident to propose to his girlfriend right there on a national teevee show Praise Jesus! The only thing that would’ve made it a better teevee experience would’ve been if he’d proposed to Brian Kilmeade.

Furthermore, where’s Ann Coulter’s poisonous rage over the fact that this little pisswilly is using his wounded, crippled victimhood to force his pro-Loser agenda down our throats just like those 9/11 widows were doing?

Dolts.

I do have to say that unlike what often happens when anyone of the Left persuasion comments to one of my postings they do tend to use language which renders their comment to be deleted by me. But neither of these comments contained any unacceptable language.  I don’t get into comment sparring with people like this because there is nothing that can be accomplished by doing so.  I’m not going to change their minds so why waste my energy on people who don’t deserve my time or effort.

  • As one of the commenters on your post showing the video, I didn’t blame Josh Sparling for anything. What I said was, “None of those people marching would have responded if they hadn’t been heckled by the soldier with the bullhorn.” Can you honestly claim that he wasn’t there to provoke people? I respect his right to express his opinion, but then to characterize the marchers as “going after” our troops is intellectually dishonest. Sparling was there to provoke people, some of them responded, and yes, many of them quite rudely, but please don’t try to create a sweeping generalization of all who oppose the war as spitting on the troops. That is a massive distortion of the truth.

I’m not trying to engage in “comment sparring” for the sake of argument. I am not trying to change your views, or call you names for the opinions you hold. There’s way too much of that on BOTH sides of the political spectrum. But I think that you are “worth my time” because you are a fellow human being. And when we stop stereotyping each other and try to connect on a human level, then maybe we can begin with peace at home before we try to spread it to the world.

Hope you have lots of firewood; it looks awfully cold at your place. Stay warm!

You must not have watched the video carefully. I went back and watched it again, and here are a few of the comments and actions from Sparling:

    1) Waving his finger in a circle in front of an angry man’s face, going, “Oooh, oooh, oooh, what are you gonna do?”

    2) Racist language:

“I was lucky to get out of the barrio.”

“I can’t understand you. This is America. Speak English.” (The Latino man WAS speaking English.)

    3) Sexist comments:

“You’re too pretty to be protesting.”

    “Lady, you know nothing.”

“You woulda been really pretty if you’d done something with that hair, sweetheart.”

    4) General rudeness, including the terms “nutcase,” “you crazy,” “bitch.”

    Loving comments such as:

“You need to get a haircut.” (Talk about Vietnam redux!)

“Yeah, Jesus would want us to sit on our asses while people are dying in Iraq.”

“I’m going to go back and fight for your right to be a dick.”

I think my earlier comment that Sparling was “heckling” the protesters is a pretty incontrovertible fact.

    Cheers!

JC – no matter which way you cut it, the “peace protesters” last weekend decry freedom of speech but it only applies to them. These “peace protesters” say they support the troops but their actions and words demonstrate just the opposite. THEY.ARE.HYPOCRITS! You may say you are a pacifist, I don’t know what that means in todays anti-war/peace protester semantics. The “peace protesters” of the 60’s and today are nothing but parasites and whiny pukes. If you are a part of these groups I don’t know. There is nothing Joshua said which could possibly condone the type of responses he received from the supposed group of “peace” protesters last weekend.

I was surprised that a respectful personage of your sensitivity could not appreciate the nuances resident in my description of Josh as “… a bitter little cripple who’s trying to justify his amputation.” Be that as it may, we now know while the White House cajoled folks like you into calling everyone who didn’t support the Iraq War “The Dregs of Humanity,” while you were insisting that we didn’t support the troops, and while we were subjected to constant ringing slogans like “Support the Troops,” we had to read about the lack of support for the troops and basic care for our “wounded warriors” at Walter Reed Hospital in the Washington Post! We never saw anything about it from you. Once again, it was the free press that reported on it. If you’d been in charge, the facts would never have seen the light of day.

The peace protesters of the ’60s and today are whiny pukes? Where were you in 1968? Probably in the same closet you were in when our troops were being neglected by privatized healthcare at Walter Reed, neglected by the government they fought for, neglected right under your troop-supporting nose.
