Example of why the draft is a bad idea
Some Soldier’s Mom received an email from a wounded Viet Nam veteran. The email in itself is startling, the venom and hatred is palatable from this man. Some Soldier’s Mom responds in an even handed and eloquent manner to this very sad, and in my opinion, deranged man.
I was on Army active duty right before they discontinued the draft. I never saw so many bad attitudes in my life. Bad attitudes are contagious. Even in todays military it only takes a couple people to start whining, be unproductive and ruin it for everyone else. Morale would drop significantly if we had draftees serving again. Todays military is more professional than I have ever seen it. The pay and benefits are also the best they have ever been. Another thing, the deployments are the worst they have ever been. It’s no fun in the desert!
