Mary Parker slithers her way into the gutter(Tn SD23 Race)
Remember, this Democrat has labeled herself the “Values” candidate. I keep trying to find the real values of Parker though. Is it the values of lying? That’s what it looks like to me.
Guess I shouldn’t be surprised considering the tv ad Parker has out where she slimes Jack Johnson. Parker has now sent out an email to Republican women in Williamson County where she says she has worked both sides of the political aisle intimating she was once a Republican. Course, this isn’t true. She has a list of 10 women who supposedly are Republicans who are supporting Parker against Jack Johnson.
I know that none of these women are Republicans in Williamson County. Can’t say that is true about Davidson County. I doubt it though. We received calls at the Republican office inquiring about this email. Since Parker convolutes her party affiliation when she’s probably a lifelong Democrat it’s confusing. I’m also confused. Just why is Parker so afraid of declaring herself a Democrat?
I’ll post the entire email at the end but due to it’s length you’ll have to click on more to read it. I just want to focus a couple items from the email.
Here’s one paragraph:
Despite his limited background, her opponent believes that having the word Republican beside his name entitles him to the state senate seat in our district. But his rigid ultra conservative positions do not fit the values of this district. He is endorsed by the Tennessee Right To Life Organization because he promised to vote for a constitutional amendment completely banning abortion, with no exceptions whatsoever, not even for the life of the mother or for rape or incest. He is, also, opposed to stem cell research, even if the zygotes were going to be thrown away.
She once again lies about Jack’s position on abortion. See here. I find it almost humorous for Parker to diss Jack for being a proud Republican when you see her disengenuous alignment to the Democrat Party. I guess Parker learned her gutter and slime tactics from working as an environmental class action trial attorney. No wonder people think badly of trial attorneys. Jack Johnson has run a clean positive campaign while Parker slithers along the gutter trail.
Parker continues with her personal attacks on Jack Johnson:
snip……She is just tired of partisan politics controlling everything. Her opponent, in his 30’s, has already lost one campaign for Metro Council in Nashville, after which he moved into the Nashville side of this district 3 years ago, because of its Republican leanings, and is trying to embark upon a political career. He will stay the party line. He has never veered from it, regardless of the candidate or the position.
I guess since Parker has lived in such an exclusive area of Brentwood for such a long time she has forgotten what it’s like for young couples in buying houses. Usually, they buy a starter home and move up once children enter their lives. Guess in Parker’s world of the rich this is an oddity. I mean when you have a hockey rink in your basement for your kid it’s kind of difficult to relate to us commoners in not so toney real estate. And by the way Mary, I like the fact that Jack is in his 30’s. That means he’s representing the new generation and not the Bredeson generation of “you owe it to me cause I’m OLD”.

Subject: Republican Women for Mary Parker for State Senate
Friends,
We have been lifelong moderate Republicans, but now have a friend, Mary
Parker, running for state senate district 23 in Williamson and southern
Davidson Counties, who is a conservative Democrat. Since her values and our values are very similar, maybe a conservative Democrat and a moderate
Republican are about the same.
Mary has worked on both sides of the aisle, working side-by-side with Fred Thompson in his campaigns and working for Governor Bredesen and John Edwards in their campaigns. We attended a big fundraiser at her house for a Republican judge, Al Nations, earlier this year.
Mary has always looked beyond party lines to support the candidate that
she felt was best for the job and she is asking the same from us now.
Despite his limited background, her opponent believes that having the
word Republican beside his name entitles him to the state senate seat in our district.
Mary is the education candidate, with endorsements by the Tennessee Education Association, and it’s affiliates, the Williamson County and Metro Nashville Education Associations. She has a plan for utilizing lottery funds that are sitting idle to aid Tennessee’s education system with no new taxes. Her opponent wants to take money out of current education funds for charter schools. That could hurt our strong school system
in this district and Mary is opposed to it. Mary is also opposed to a state income tax.
Mary is a former prosecutor, who knows from experience the difficulty of dealing with immigration issues. She understands what state government can do to combat immigration problems. Her opponent wants to “close the borders” and “send the problem to other states” which shows his lack of understanding of the real issues that a state senate can deal with. Mary is endorsed by the retired director of the TBI, Larry Wallace.
Mary has also been endorsed by over 25 groups, including the Sierra Club, the Conservation Voters, the Nurses Association, the Association of Social Workers, the Tennessean, to name a few.
Mary is a Mom, a 28 year attorney, 53 years old, a 17 year resident of
Williamson County, and is ready to give back to society with several years as a public servant. She is just tired of partisan politics controlling everything. With him, it will be politics as usual. With Mary, her door will be open to everyone, without regard to party affiliation. She will never ask if it is a democratic position of a republican one, she will only ask if it is right for us.
We are asking you to vote your values (not necessarily your party line)
this election. Vote for our friend, Mary Parker, for state senate. For more information about Mary Parker and her campaign, please visit her website www.parkerforsenate.com

Moreover, I have voted for Democrats a grand total of two times and Republicans all the other times. Want to push me away?
