Nestle makes the very best???

Looks like Nestle has gotten itself into a bit of choco-mess in thinking it could hire illegal aliens through a “contractor”, then saying “oops we didn’t know”.

From Stiknstein we learn….

Here’s the LAW?..Federal Immigration and Nationality Act
Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii)

A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he:

Assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S.

Encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer .

Anyone employing or contracting with an illegal alien without verifying his or her work authorization status is guilty of a misdemeanor.

Any person who within any 12-month period hires ten or more individuals with actual knowledge that they are illegal aliens or unauthorized workers is guilty of felony harboring.

Aliens and employers violating immigration laws are subject to arrest, detention, and seizure of their vehicles or property.

It is unlawful to hire an individual for employment in the United States without complying with employment eligibility verification requirements. Requirements include examination of identity documents and completion of Form I-9 for every employee hired.

The use of temporary or short-term contracts cannot be used to circumvent the employment authorization verification requirements.

Here’s a story under the radar:
From FAIR’s News Letter…..

Senate Sneaks Immigration Provision Into Department of Defense Authorization BillSenator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) used back-room negotiations to slip language into the Department of Defense Authorization bill, signed into law on October 18, 2006, that potentially doubles the H-2B visa cap for unskilled workers. This language added to the defense bill is similar to the H-2B amendment Senator Mikulski offered to S.2611, the Senate guest worker amnesty bill that the House refused to take to conference committee. Senator Mikulski was successful in including the H-2B language to in the Defense Authorization bill despite statements from Armed Services Chairman John Warner (R-VA) that he would not allow any extraneous provisions to be added to that bill. In contrast, before Congress adjourned for the November elections, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) waged a public battle to attach his own immigration provision to the same defense bill. Speaker Hastert’s provision would have prohibited alien gang members from entering the U.S. and allowed for the detention and deportation of alien gang members already within the country. Chairman Warner, however, refused the Speaker’s request to include the alien gang language. Last week, as the President signed the Defense Authorization bill into law, Senator Mikulski released a statement stating she would not have been successful in her effort to pass the H-2B provision without the help of Senator Warner.

Wonder how H-2B Visa’s relate to Defense? Thanks Senate Republicans for once again showing your true colors. Allowing this to be buried in the Defense Bill.
Common Sense America talks about Then and Now ( a certain Senator’s statements on illegal immigration through the years).

    Do the French own Nestle?

Remember how much crap Walmart had to deal with when the INS busted a contractor of theirs?

  • Toni says:

But that was the “evil” Walmart. I think you’re right on that. Isn’t it Swiss Miss that’s actually an American owned company. I remember this because it’s opposite of what you’d think based on the name.

This is a statement provided by Nestle Consumer Services regarding the You Tube video:

-The man appearing on the video is an independent -contractor, not a Nestle employee.
-Nestle is no longer doing business with this individual or his company.
-Like you, we were appalled at the behavior of the contractor. The man in no way represents Nestle views or policies.
-Nestle follows all laws regarding documentation of our workers. We only employ those who have the right to legally work in the US.
