Haditha vs Bakuba

Ollie North asks an excellent question not only of the American people but the media.

Here's a "self-test" to prove how well this "branding" works. Clip or print this article. Put it in a pocket and a week from now, whip it out and ask a "representative sample" of your family, friends and associates two questions: "What happened at Bakuba?" And then, "What happened at Haditha?" Tabulate the results. Prediction: Eight of ten will be able to tell you something about "Marines accused of killing civilians" in Haditha. Fewer than three in ten will know anything about Bakuba — and only a few will even know that it's in Iraq.

Just in case you don't know, Bakuba is where they took out Zarqawi.

Riehl World View goes through all the media reporting about Haditha.  This analysis shows the discrepancies by the same witnesses in Iraq between each media publication.  This isn't about "little" discrepencies.  The level of how the media has been hoodwinked or complicit in reporting lies is disgusting.  Here's an example:

To keep this straight-forward, I'm taking this item by item. It proves there are false reports being told by some Iraqis as regards Haditha. Unfortunately, the AP and the MSM appear to be gleefully reporting them without checking their facts.

From the AP today:

At about the same time, a man who stepped out of his nearby house to see what was happening at Ayed Ahmed's home was shot and wounded, according to al-Hadithi. Aws Fahmi, 43, was left to bleed on the street for about two hours before a female neighbor dragged him to safety, al-Hadithi told the AP. Fahmi's family was not able to take him to a hospital until two days later, al-Hadithi said.

Someone must have forgotten that Aws Fahmi was quoted ten times in this WaPo piece from May27, as a witness. Not once did he claim to be involved, let alone shot. Are we to believe he forgot? Or that the WaPo wouldn't tell the story of a man shot and left to die in the street by our Marines?

Heidi at Euphoric Reality has fire coming out of her ears, nose and mouth since she heard this:

I am shaking with fury right now. I just listened on the radio to the father of one of the Marines and the wife of the Navy corpsman incarcerated in Camp Pendleton - UNCHARGED -after Haditha. Let me tell you what’s going on with OUR Marines right at this moment:

snip…..our Marines, who have NOT been charged with any crime whatsoever are in SOLITARY CONFINEMENT and wearing leg and wrist SHACKLES. They are allowed no exercise, and can only go outside for one hour per day - unable to move around because of their SHACKLES. They are not allowed to hug their wives or their children - and they are only allowed to speak to them through thick glass, again immobilized while in SHACKLES. They are being treated worse than the terrorist scum lounging around Gitmo on the American dime!!

Then there's SpiritBuilders.  The sole purpose of this blog?

As much as I like reading blogs, I don’t want to be a blogger. I have one mission, that is to prevent “Haditha” from becoming the next “Abu Ghraib.” Of course, I know one woman in flyover land sitting at a computer cannot not accomplish this alone. I’m just one grunt in the Pajamahadeen – many of whom are already well out in front of the issue.

How will I know when the mission is accomplished? When a daily search of Google News for “Haditha” returns less than 200 stories, I will be satisfied that our media have realised that "Haditha" is neither "Abu Ghraib" nor "My Lai."

  1. Hi Tony - just stopped by to say hi and catch up on your posts. Great work!!! Every time I hear that the Democrats are strategizing over a “value”, my gag reflex kicks in.

And it was all Nancy Pelosi could do not to choke yesterday when she had to say “That’s good news” about Zarqawi’s demise.

Keep up your great research and blog!!

  3. Is the Haditha Story a Hoax?

Apparently, the Times magazine story about the ‘cold-blooded killing’ perpetrated by US Marines in Haditha is falling apart
