The Dems’ Dark Side
Yes, I do believe the Democrat Party members think a strategy of a US loss in Iraq will gain them the majority in the House, Senate and maybe even the Presidency in 2008. They think if they are able to successfully revive the Vietnam years that is a good thing for the American psyche. Of course in order to do this they need to defame and destroy the military. They also have needed the assistance of the dominent media, which by the way, has been an all too willing participant. It's the drip, drip, drip of negative news everyday of events in Iraq. It's an obsession with Abu Ghraib, phony recruiting numbers, phony suicide numbers, never highlighting and paying honor to the heroic acts of military members and thus honoring real American heroes vs. spoilt pro athletes or Hollywood idiots. The latest Democrat move of Murtha is once again a shameful act.
On the same day - just as Iraqis were successfully forming a civilian cabinet - Rep. John Murtha claimed U.S. troops in November had massacred Iraqi women and children "in cold blood." Such an incident had been reported in March by Time magazine, and it is under investigation, but Murtha could cite no sources other than "commanders" with whom he'd talked.
Murtha, clearly hoping he'd found another My Lai massacre, blamed "pressure" for the alleged incident. That way he could hold Rumsfeld accountable for authorizing insufficient troop levels, thereby politicizing the Iraq war. The antics of the Pennsylvania congressman, who is endlessly depicted by the mainstream media as an erstwhile hawk, were irresponsible in the extreme.
Pelosi doesn't think so. On Thursday the minority leader charged the Pentagon with covering up the incident. Such an incendiary comment suggests that she, too, thinks she's found another My Lai with which to turn public opinion against the war.
To underscore the Democrats' inability to break out of Vietnam, there emerges Tom Hayden - who privately negotiated with Hanoi three and a half decades ago to strengthen America's antiwar movement - exhorting Democrats to embrace a withdrawal.

Matthew Heidt (Froggy) nails it with posting Democratic 2008 Presidential Nominee Crowned
A top Democratic strategist speaking on the condition of anonimity told Froggy, "Murtha is a slamdunk Presidential nominee for us. Hillary is great and all, and we have tremendous respect for Bill Clinton and his ability to use the Oval office to get hummers and tax hikes through. But she just doesn't have the Democratic street cred that Murtha does. I mean, we're always on the lookout for somebody who is willing to betray his countrymen to gain politically, and well, Murtha is at the top of the heap."
