Politicians and Preferential Treatment
Sometimes don’t you just want to backhand some of these politicians who express moral outrage about some event or story. This really started to bother me with a politician by the name of Rod Gram’s (R, MN) who was running for the Senate in Minnesota. Gram’s has a son who is just in trouble all the time and the Mpls Strib would headline every single event to slam Gram’s in the Senate race. They basically were rubbing Gram’s nose into the dirt.
Then along comes AG Mike Hatch (D, MN) and his 2 daughter’s are in Chicago. They are out drinking and have an altercation with the Police.
From MN Democrats Exposed:
Anne Hatch, 22, and Elizabeth Hatch, 23, were arrested after an early-hours scuffle with police outside the Crobar, a trendy club on Chicago’s near north side where they had been celebrating Anne Hatch’s birthday in March 2004.
Police allege that after the two were removed from the club, Elizabeth Hatch slapped an officer with an open hand and knocked his glasses off. Police said Anne Hatch wrestled with another officer and scratched his face and later broke a police car window.
Here’s another link from Channel 2 out of Chicago.
The Hatch Girls chose a judge trial and lo and behold the decision? The court ruled that the Hatch sisters were innocent on all charges citing holes in the prosecution’s story. Hmm. I’m sure there’s no connection whatsoever that Hatch is a Democrat and Chicago is run by the Democrat machine.
Next we have this story: No Charges in Fight for Rep. Conyers’ Wife
No charges will be filed against City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, the wife of Democratic Rep. John Conyers, over a bar fight, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Monica Conyers got into a fight with a woman at a Detroit bar. She gave a woman a black eye. She claimed she was defending herself. No charges were filed.
Then there’s Joe Lieberman who wants to end cheap fares for lawmakers (not a bad idea right?). But the hypocrisy comes in:
However, Lieberman, D-Conn., took seven such flights on aircraft provided by a handful of corporations last year, including a Fortune 500 energy firm and a leading scientific supply company.
How about Al Gore’s son. Now here is a troubled situation. I remember during the 2000 election the son was caught speeding (we aren’t talking about 10 mph over the limit either) but there was almost nothing in the dominent media about this. How about this story? Ever remember reading about this? Al Gore’s Son Arrested for Pot Possession. No? I didn’t think so. Even though Al Gore is out of office the media still seems to think he has something of worth to say. So, you’d think news of his family would be newsworthy. Gore’s son actually has quite a long list of infractions of which I don’t think any has been particularly highlighted in the news.
What’s the point of this posting? Not a whole lot except these stories have been bugging me for awhile.

Fair and equal treatment is not a selling point for the Democrats. I expect them to behave this way.
As for the Son of AlGore … he probably smokes to smother the pain of being the son of a Mad-Man.
