Embed Review Report From 2003 Released

Filed under: Military, Iraq, MSM on Military — Toni @ 6:12 am

This is interesting. How much it cost to embed a reporter, the number of embeds disciplined and ousted, the positives and negatives from both the reporters view and the military view, what could be done better in the future among other points.

Here’s a hmmm little story though:

The report notes that in that first year, just three embeds were kicked out and not allowed back for disobeying the rules. It describes the incidents but does not reveal names. In one instance, a photographer was booted after entering an off-limits area and writing a message on a missile. (The study does not disclose that it was, in fact, an antiwar message.)

I can’t imagine why a visibly anti-war reporter would be embedded with the military going into a war. What were the reporters bosses thinking? Guess maybe they just wanted the chance to bash the military is the only conclusion I can come to.
