German hostage had ransom money

Strange I was looking for this story this morning and maybe in my daze just missed it. I didn’t want to lose track of another journalist in a questionable kidnapping situation. Course this is the “journalist” the German government released in exchange for prisoner Muhammad Ali Hammadi who brutally tortured and murdered Robert Dean Stethem(Navy diver), 20 years ago (see Blackfive for more information).

Susanne Osthoff, 43, was released after a month in captivity on Dec 18. While she took a shower in Germany’s embassy in Baghdad, officers from the BND, its intelligence service, found “several thousand dollars” fastened with rubber bands in her clothes, according to one of the investigators. Their serial numbers matched those on notes paid to secure her release.

So, if I have this correct, this was an elaborate extortion plan that got a murderer freed, and garnered a so-called journalist a lot of money.

Nice. Gotta love the Germans. Follow it! Will she be charged?

    Yeah, riiiiight.
