NYC Shame: WTC Board Has Forgotten
It was bad enough that the LMDC (Lower Manhattan Development Corp.) wasted Federal funds on a memorial which “embraced” cultural diversity center rather than honoring those victims of a horrific attack on America. Now we find out the funds have also been allocated to:
SoHo’s Drawing Center - $10 million
Unnamed cultural facility - $50 million
Snohetta building design - unspecified millions
There are two supposed Republicans on this board in the names of Gov. Pataki and Mayor Bloomberg (not a big surprise for NY Republicans). Additionally, neither has donated funds to the memorial!
It seems evident that the cultural facilities, not the memorial, are the true priority of some individuals who have been charged with building the memorial. The majority of Sept. 11 families are withholding donations until America gets a memorial design it deserves, one that preserves our national heritage, provides for the safety of visitors and honors the dead by telling their story without distraction.
Where is the oversight from the Federal government on the expenditures of the $2.78 Billion entrusted to NY to rebuild the WTC site since obviously the LMCD Board can’t be trusted.

Why are we not surprised?
