Phil Carter does usually sound like Hackworth and I pretty much stopped reading him because usually he was negative, negative, negative. His logic sounds like the logic used by John McCain in saying the US needed to setup permanent bases in Afghanistan. We still have permanent bases in Germany and Korea which the US is trying to eliminate and establish footprint type bases. The funniest part about Phil's argument is that Iraq is a war the US or Coalition is losing! Huh? Austin Bay has a good response to all of Phil's points. Austin's commenter's also make some excellant observations.
