I have heard Frank Gaffney talk about this treaty on Hugh Hewitts radio program. Sounds to me a lot like an unelected council called the Metropolitan Council we have in the Twin Cities except this is international and has far reaching consequences which would be difficult to reverse once enacted. Like the Met Council the overreaching tenacles of this treaty threaten the citizens of this country. Yet there is much support for the treaty! Why? Reagan - no[no surprise], Clinton - yes[no surprise], Lugar - yes [no surprise], Cheney - yes [Big surprise].

Law of the Sea Treaty [LOST] - seriously that's the acrynym. I would say this acrynym says it all in that the US will basically have LOST it sovereignty.

In a nutshell here's what Phyllis says:
give its own creation, the International Seabed Authority, the power to regulate 70 percent of the world's surface area.
give the authority power to levy international taxes.
give the authority power to regulate ocean research and exploration.
give the authority power to impose production quotas for deep-sea mining and oil production.
give
the authority the power to create a multinational court system and to enforce its judgments.
no guarantee that the United States would even be represented on the authority's tribunals.

People need to start contacting Senators to lobby against this treaty approval.
