1/30/2005 03:14:51 PM|||Toni|||I just finished watching the 2 hour Spirit of America special on CSPAN. As a note to all CSPAN is replaying it again in the next few minutes.

The program was inspirational, informative, entertaining, not a professional or polished program which endeared the genuineness of the people involved. Christopher Hitchens was a primary panelist and is ever so clever and good with words. I would also like to say that one of the consistent themes heard in this program is the negative 'meme' of the mainstream news media (MSM). Additionally, the over emphasis on different sects of Muslims in Iraq. Personally I always figured if there were Sunni's who didn't want to vote then it's their loss. For the MSM to say the election would not be valid if there was low voter turnout by the Sunni's was just more show of how the MSM doesn't want this election to be successful. I do believe this will help the US in the future if another democracy can be established in the Middle East (don't forget Israel!). All on the panel believe a democratic Iraq will be a change agent for other Middle East Arab countries whether it's wanted or not by their leaders.
